  • At the age of 23 years, 5 months and 13 days, Gladys Noleen (Noleen) Feeny married Francis (Frank) Skelly, son of Bernard Michael Skelly and Elizabeth Lily Fox, on 6 June 1927 in Pittsworth, Queensland. The Brisbane Courier reported - "SKELLY-FEENEY.
A wedding of interest to a large circle of friends was celebrated at the Roman Catholic Church, on June 6, when Mr. Frank Skelly (son of Mr. and Mrs. Skelly, of Pittsworth) was married to Miss Noeleen Feeney (youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs. Patrick Feeney, of Roma). The church had been decorated by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart Sodality, Children of Mary, and the choir, of which the bride had been a member all her life. Pink and white roses adorned the altar rails, an arch being suspended over the guest pews, which were marked with pink and silver ribbons. The bridegroom's brother (Rev. Father Skelly), assisted by Rev. Father Troy, performed the ceremony, and nuptial mass was celebrated after the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, was gowned in white manette over crepe de Chine, heavily beaded, and outlined with seed pearls. The silver lace train was lined with pink crepe de Chine, ornamented with orange blossom, and her veil of silver tulle and lace was arranged in cap fashion. She carried an ivory-bound prayer book, the gift of Sister Bertel, of Red Hill, Brisbane. The bridesmaids, Misses Gladys Griffin and Eileen Sparks were frocked alike in pink mariette over crepe de Chine, made with yokes of silver lace, and pouched effect at hips. The skirts were French pleated, and ei-yathed belt of mariette finished with a diamante buckle at the waist completed tlie toilettes. Little Bernard and Esme Tait acted as page boy and train bearer, respectively. The former wore a blue satin suit, and the latter was frocked in blue crepe de Chine, and wore a tulle Dutch cap. She also wore an armlet, the gift of the bridegroom. Messrs. Skelly (Charleville) and J. Kennaiake attended the bridesgroom. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a fur coat, and to the bridesmaids begave a diamond and onyx ring and a gold wristlet watch. After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Feeney held a reception at the Hibernian Hall, where they entertained about 150 guests. Mrs. Feeney wore a brown silk marocain frock relieved with gold, and a fawn felt hat to match. Mrs. Skelly (mother of the bridegroom) wore a frock of bois de rose tricotine, relieved with a waistcoat of cream and bois de rose, and a hat to match. She also wore stone marten furs. Mrs. Tait (sister of the bride) wore a black velveteen coat and skirt, and a vest of Oriental satin, with a hat of mauve panne velvet . On leaving for the honeymoon, which will be spent in the South and Tasmania, Mrs. Skelly wore a French pleated frock of mastic mariette, a vagabond felt hat, and a fur coat. Mr. and Mrs. Skelly will make their future home in Bowen.1
