    "Frederick Gersekowski was born in Mackay on 7 June, 1875 to parents who had just arrived in Australia. From Mackay the family moved to Highfields, the father working on the railway. When Frederick was twelve years of age his father died and he had to carry on the family farm.
    At the tender age of eighteen, in 1893 Frederick selected about 160 acres at Gowrie Flat, the selection is still in the family name. On 15 February, 1899 he married Anna Marguarthea Elsabea Peters whose parents had a store in Goombungee. They had a family of five sons and two daughters. One daughter was accidentally killed at an early age.
    As years went by he acquired more land at Gowrie Flat and Coalbank and on the range at Upper Coalbank. In 1947 the home property and the Coalbank property were purchased by a son, Edmund Charles (Sam). On 4 February, 1953 Frederick Gersekowski passed away in Brisbane. Mrs Gersekowski passed away in December 1960. After the death of Frederick Sam bought the Upper Coalbank country whick he worked until his death on 14 February, 1965. Since that date the property has been worked by his widow and sons.
    The Blacksmith shop on the property is still operable although its has been modified over the years. Much work had been done in this shop in the early years although the art is somewhat lost now."
  • Frederick Gersekowski died on 5 February 1953 in Brisbane, Queensland, at age 77.
