  • He immigrated to Moreton Bay on 17 February 1866. William travelled on the Cesar Godeffroy from Hamburg with his parents and siblings.4
  • At the age of 23 years, 10 months and 25 days, Wilhelm Hess married Amelia (Emily) Keno on 7 August 1872 in Toowoomba, Queensland. After their marriage their first five children were born in Toowoomba. Their sixth child was born under a dray during the family's move to their property at Chinchilla. He was premature and died shortly after birth. His birth and death were not registered.
    They had a total of seventeen chldren losing seven in childhood.
    After moving from Dogwood Creek back to Douglas the family finally settled at Rosalie Plains.5,6,4
  • Wilhelm Hess was naturalised on 7 February 1876.7,4
  • Wilhelm Hess died on 13 September 1929 in Oakey, Queensland, at age 81. Wilhelm and Emily retired to Federal Street in Oakey several years before Wilhelm's death.
    After Wilhelm's death Emily lived with their son Willie (Ernest) at Pittsworth. She was a midwife.2,3

  • Lillian Frances May Heyward married Percival Claud Guy, son of John William (Jack) Guy and Beatrice Annie Ward, on 24 February 1920 in Queensland. Percy met Lillian while he was in England during the war. They became engaged. After Percy had returned to Crow's Nest he sent for Lillian. They were married in a double wedding with Percy's sister Violet. Percy and Lillian had a total of 10 children. The family lived in a small fibro house opposite the Catholic Church in Esk Street, Crow's Nest.1,3
  • Lillian Frances May Heyward and Percival Claud Guy appeared on the Electoral Roll between 1926 and 1954 living at Crow's Nest. Percy was a signwriter and Lillian carried out home duties. He was also a house painter, selling agent, poet and correspondent. Many of his colourful signs were painted and dried in his front yard. His poems were published in the Crow's Nest Advertiser during the 1940's, 50,s and 60's. At least of his poems was printed on the back of a post card.4
