  • Susan Harris and Thomas Parton immigrated to Moreton Bay on 30 October 1878. The family travelled on the Scottish Admiral. The records show Thomas was 24 years old, Susan 22 Their children Thomas and Elizabeth A were 2 and an infant. Elizabeth died on the voyage.
    Thomas' brother George also travelled with them. Thomas' parents Thomas and Margaret followed on the Manora in 1882.

  • Ben Harrison was born on 5 June 1903. His birth was registered in the Sep 1903 Quarter in Seattle, West Riding of Yorkshire.
  • He was the son of John Harrison and Ada Annie Armstrong.
  • In the 1920's John Harrison established a steam sawmill on Pierce's Creek. In the 1930's the engine was shifted to Old Woman's Hut Creek. His son Ben operated this sawmill until the 1950's when Ben set up a new electric mill in Emu Creek Road, Crow's Nest. The mill was sold to Clark's Sawmilling in 1963.
  • Ben Harrison appeared on the Electoral Roll in 1926 living at Gordale, Crow's Nest. He was a farmer.
  • At the age of 25 years, Ben Harrison married Myrtle Avelina Blinco, daughter of Thomas William Blinco and Emily Rosina Wellington, in 1929 in Queensland.

  • Amos Harriss's birth was registered in the an unknown place , an unknown place Registration District in the June 1851 Quarter. He was the son of Fred William Harriss and Harriet Harriss and grew up in the village near Bury, St Edmonds in Suffolk. The family were all farm labourers and Methodist.
  • At the age of 23 years and 4 months, Amos Harriss married Virginia Prewer-Docking in October 1874 in All Saints Church, Chevington.
  • Amos Harriss and Virginia Prewer-Docking immigrated on 27 March 1876. Amos, 24 and Virginia 19 travelled on the Western Monarch leaving London on 9 Dec 1875. During the 5 month voyage Virginia suffered badly from sea sickness and she never went on board any kind of boat again.
    Amos found work with a dairy farmer at Kangaroo Point in Brisbane. They later moved to Toowoomba and worked in a confectary factory. However, indoor work did not suit Amos so he took a job on a farm at Gowrie Little Plains. He then worked on the Railway at Mitchell on the banks of the Maronoa River. Later they transfered to Toowoomba to do the same work and when the railway work had finished Amos selected land at Ravensbourne just outside Toowoomba and built a house in the scrub.
  • On 3 March 1882,Amos Harriss's son, Frederick Henry Harriss was buried in Drayton & Toowoomba Cemetery.
  • Amos Harriss and Virginia Prewer-Docking lived in "Rose Hill", Ravensbourne.
