  • She witnessed the marriage of James Eggar Jefferis and Jane Louisa Webb on 4 June 1867 in Henley, Oxfordshire; James Eggar, 31, was living at Alton at the time of his marriage and Louisa who was 17 was living at Henley with her parents Jane and Robert Norman Webb. Robert Norman Webb (Jane's father, a coal and timber merchant), Ethel Jefferis ?, James Jefferis (father), Susan Hooper(her maternal aunt) and Thomas Eggar (James Eggar's uncle) were present at the marriage. Jane Louisa Webb was most likely a relation of Sarah Webb (James' second wife) as they were both born in Henley on Thames.

    "The appended will of the late Ann Hooper (who died Dec 24, 1837 and was buried according to her will on Saturday Dec 30th, 1837) was read in the presence of Roger Hooper, Robert Hooper, Mary wife of Samuel Hooper n Susan wife of William Forster, the daughter named in the said will, on January the 3rd 1838 who gave their consent to its contents and determined to abide by it and act accordingly.

Just what happened to Thomas senior and his wife Mary is not known. Thomas senior was overseas in 1837 (Thomas sen was then 46 years old) when his mother Ann made her will. It is not known if Mary went with her husband or died before he left England.

    Thomas senior may not be the son of Thomas and Ann Farr.
  • He was the son of Thomas Hooper and Mary Unknown.
  • At the age of 21 years, 10 months and 29 days, Thomas Hooper married Elizabeth (Betsy) Hockey, daughter of James Hockey and Mary Bagg, on 7 April 1834 in St George Church, Hinton St George, Somerset. Both Thomas and Elizabeth are shown as sojourners, and Elizabeths surname is spelt HAWKEY. Hinton St George is a village 3 km NW of Crewkerne.
  • Thomas Hooper and Elizabeth (Betsy) Hockey appeared on the census of 7 June 1841 in Norton Under Hamdon, Somerset. Thomas is shown as a 25 year old labourer, living with his wife Elizabeth also 25 and children John 5, Tesse 2 (Jesse) and Emma 5 months.

  • At the age of 18 years, Thomas Hooper married Mary Unknown in 1810. This marriage has not yet been confirmed. Thomas would have only been about 19 years old when he married Mary. They appear to have had only one child, Thomas baptised on 9 May 1812 in Merriot.
  • In November 1837 At the time his mother Ann made her will in November 1837, Thomas was abroad. He has 46 years old. He was a beneficery of her will should he return home - "I give my goods and chattels to the same Robert Hooper with the proviso that if Thomas Hooper my son should return that Robert Hooper shall give him proportion of my best bed on which I have lain with the bedstead and bedding."     It is not know if Thomas ever returned home or if his wife Mary went with him. Certainly their son Thomas was still living in Somerset and had married Elizabeth Hockey.

  • William Hooper attended school in Purga Creek State School, Boonah.
  • He was a Timber Selector/Veterinarian/Water Diviner/Drover/Farmer.
  • William spend his early twenties in North Queensland where he worked as a drover and water diviner. During this time he was a runner and competed professionaly. He is said to have won the Charters Towers Hundred around the turn of the century, but had entered under another name to avoid having to run at a handicap.
  • He and Ada Ellen Moore were of the Church of England faith.
  • At the age of 28 years, 11 months and 11 days, William Hooper married Ada Ellen Moore, daughter of Joseph George Moore and Edith Bolt, on 27 April 1898 in Christ Church, Boonah, Queensland, Australia.
  • William Hooper and Ada Ellen Moore appeared on the Electoral Roll in 1936 living at Dugandan, Boonah. William was a farmer and Ada carried out home duties.
  • William Hooper was listed as the next of kin of Keith William Hooper when he enlisted in the Australian Army on 22 June 1940 in Kelvin Grove, Brisbane. Keith, a storeman, was living at 2 Sarann Flats, Boundary Street, West End at the time he enlisted. He gave his next of kin as his father, William who lived at the same address. He had been captured by the Japanese and survived being a Prisioner of War at Changi.

Kathleen was discharged on 22 February 1946 with the rank of Lieutenant in the 2/1 Australian General Hospital Division.

  • At the age of 44 years and 2 months, William Hooper married Mary G(wendoline) Boutilier on 8 August 1892 in Halifax. They were married by Licence in the Church of England. He was a 42 year old widowed teamster, born West Chinnock, England, son of Elizabeth and Thomas (a farmer). She was a 30 year old spinster, born Ingman's Prior, daughter of John (a farmer) and Sophia. Witnesses to the marriage were George Hooper and Allan Boutilier.
  • William Hooper died on 12 April 1913 in City Home, Halifax, at age 64. He was married at the time of his death from epilipsy and exhaustion. His occupation was given as a labourer. He was buried in Camp Hill Cemetery.

William aged 24, a shepherd, Charles aged 20, a farm servant, Mary Ann aged 18 a sail cloth factory operative, Robert aged 16 a carter, and Alice 14 were living with them. All the children were born in Lopen.
