  • Frances Susan (Marion) Noblett was orphaned in March 1851 when her mother was accidentally drowned in a boating accident in Rushcutters Bay. Her father had died just ten weeks before from "a lingering illness", perhaps tuberculosis. Marion's father had made specific arrangements for the welfare of his daughter and named Charles Newton an auctioneer of Sydney and Christopher Newton a Draper as her legal guardians. John Woods was a witness. Marion grew up in a house called "Retreat Cottage" in Newtown Sydney perhaps in the household of one of the Newton brothers. At some stage the Newtons moved to Rockhampton to establish a drapery there and Marion went with them.
    Marion was employed in domestic service by the Little family who lived on "Rosedale" Station south of Rockhampton. It was while she lived at here that she met James Murray of "Greenvale" Station a few miles north of her employer's property.
  • At the age of 21 years, Frances Susan (Marion) Noblett married James Murray, son of James Murray and Wilhelmina Reid, in 1870 in Queensland.

  • He immigrated to Sydney in August 1841. He came on the "Pearl" with 210 other Irish Immigrants as a Bounty immigrant. The ship sailed from Plymouth.
  • After arriving in Sydney, William was able to establish himself as a draper and conducted a business in Pitt Street where he also lived.
  • William John Noblett married Frances Staines, daughter of Thomas Staines and Sarah Davis, on 9 February 1848 in St Andrews, Sydney, New South Wales. Frances and William were married by special license in the Parish of St Andrews in the county of Cumberland. It was a Presbyterian Marriage. William was shown as a bachelor whose usual residence was Sydney. Frances was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Scotland and her usual residence was also Sydney. Witnesses to the marriage were Samuel Staines of Sydney, Martha Croxford of Sydney. The Officiating Presbyterian minister was John McGarvie.
  • William John Noblett died in January 1851 in Sydney, New South Wales. He died from a "lingering illness."

  • At the time of the death of her father, James Nolan, on 25 Apr 1910 in, Elizabeth Ann (Annie) Nolan was living in Edwardstown. James' seniors obituary appeared in the Darling Downs Gazette. It read:- " With reference to the death of Mr. James Nolan senr.briefly referred to yesterday, deceased had passed the allotted span of life. He was born at Bagnalstown, County Carlow, Ireland, and arrived at Moreton Bay in 1855 by the ship Cambodia. After working some years for the late William Turner of Helidon, he moved to the vicinity of Ipswich, where farming was followed until successive floods drove him to Toowoomba, where he worked as a teamster and drew some of the timber for the present bridges over the creeks here. He also ploughed up Ruthven-Street when it was first being formed. In later years deceased was well known for his skill amongst ailing stock, but latterly impaired health compelled a less active life, and a few weeks ago he became a patient at the General Hospital, where he passed peacefully away on Monday at about 5.30 p.m. His. wife predeceased him by twelve years. The living members of the family are James and John (Crow's, Nest), Joseph, Patrick, Mrs. W. H. Callaghan of this town, and Mrs. Edwards of Edwardston. The funeral is timed to leave the residence of his son-in-law Mr. W. H. Callaghan."
