Mr Frank Hennessy (of Messrs. Hennessy and Hennessy) appeared for the plaintiff and Mr. Frank Brennan appeared for the defendant. The defendant admitted the plaintiff's claim for goods sold and delivered and after hearing evidence the Police Magistrate found that the car had been used by the plaintiff, and allowed damages for the defendant amounting to £4/10/, with costs, making in total of £7/17/. Judgment for the plaintiff with costs (£5/8/7) was given, leaving a balance in favour of the defendant of £2/18/5."5

  • She was listed as the next of kin of Herman Heinrich Gerhart Gotz when she enlisted in the Australian Army on 26 May 1942 in Maidenwell. He was living at Wengenville at the time he enlisted and gave his next of kin as Mary Vietheer. He was discharged on 21 Oct 1945 with the rank of Private.1

Michael Vietheer1

M, b. 30 January 1870, d. 29 November 1950
  • Michael Vietheer was born on 30 January 1870 in Kamperrege, Haseldorfer Marsch, Germany.1,2
  • He was the son of Peter Vietheer and Wilhelmina Katherina (Tharina) Jurgs.3
  • Michael Vietheer immigrated on 25 August 1880 to Brisbane with Johann Hartz and Wilhelmina Katherina (Tharina) Jurgs. Johann 34, and Catherine 43 travelled on the Shenir with Catherine's children Michael 9 and Maria 10 - surname Hartz; and Herman 16, Peter 12 - listed under Weitheer. They left Plymouth on 20 May 1880. They were listed under the free nominated section meaning someone had paid their passage - possibly her brother Heinrich.4
  • On 27 July 1892, Michael Vietheer's 100 acre selection at Djuan was conditionally approved by the Land Court in Toowoomba.5
  • He appeared on the Electoral Roll in 1903 living at Bergen. Michael was a farmer.6
  • At the age of 34 years, Michael Vietheer married Anna Margaretha Gulk, daughter of Hans Gulk and Wilhelimine Santowski, in 1905 in Queensland.1,7

  • On 25 April 1919 The Week reported that Michael had been made trustee of the Bergen Cemetery.11
  • Michael Vietheer and Anna Margaretha Gulk appeared on the Electoral Roll between 1930 and 1943 living at Haden. Michael was a farmer.12
  • On 29 July 1944 the Producers & Citizens Co-operative Assurance Co. Ltd. published their intention of re-issuing Michael's life insurance policy as he had lost it.13
  • Michael Vietheer died on 29 November 1950 in Queensland at age 80.3,2
  • He was buried in Bergen Djuan Cemetery.2
  • Probate for his's estate was advertied on on 22 January 1951. His sons Archie and Percy were executors of the will.14
