  • William Louis Ward enlisted in the Australian Imperial Forces on 6 May 1915 in Brisbane William was a 19 year old farmer, son of Louis Ward, a farmer of Crows Nest. His service number was 2490. He had fair hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion, was 5'8" and weighed 158 lbs. He was a promoted to Corporal in the 49th Battalion.
  • William Louis Ward was killed in action on 4 September 1916 in France. At the time his parents were living in Tewantin.

  • Annie Warren appeared on the census of 2 April, 1911 in Cornwall. Annie snr, 50 was shown as the head of the house. She was a widowed dressmaker born Mousehole. Living with her were her married daughter Annie J Maddern, 23 born Newlyn, and Richard E Maddern, 25 a farmer's labourer.
    Boarding with the family were two fish packers both aged 39 and married - Edward Ware born Falmouth and William Pedlar born Cathew.
