  • In September 1954 a photograph of all of the Maddern children appeared in the local paper in September 1954. The article under the photo read:- "The Maddern family, "three boys and three girls", with their wives and husbands, held a reunion dinner in Queen's Park kiosk on Saturday on the occasion of Mr and Mrs O Maddern's forty-second wedding anniversary. The "boys" and "girls" are the children of the late John Maddern, Cornish-born farmer who died in 1933 and who took up land in the Crow's Nest District 74 years ago.   • On 14 June 1989,his wife, Lucy Ida Phyllis Maddern died in Epworth Nursing Home, Toowomba, Queensland, at age 88. In her later years Lucy suffered from dementure.
  • Gwilym Jenkin Whittaker died on 18 September 1990 in Toowoomba at age 83.
