The wedding details appeared in The Queenslander on 27 June 1914 - " WEDDINGS. Brosnan—Sondergeld.
    A pretty wedding was celebrated at St. George's Church, Crow's Nest, on June 9, when Mr. A. Macdonald Brosnan (eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. E. (Ted.) Brosnan, Lynwood farm, Plainly) was married to Miss Florance Mary Sondergeld (eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Sondergeld, of Fernvale, Crow's Nest. The Rev. W. H. Elvery officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful gown of ivory white Oriental satin, the bodice made with a round yoke of fine Brussels net richly embroidered with crystal and opal beads, and draped with satin and silk lace, the sleeves were full length, and were trimmed with beads and the lame lace, the skirt was slightly draped, showing a panel of rich dieep lace out lined with beads. A Court train heavily kilted fell from the shoulders, and showed a deep frill of lace underneath. She also wore an embroidered, tulle veil surmounted by a coronet of orange blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet of narcissi, camellias, stocks, and maiden hair fern, with white ribbon streamers (a gift from the bridegroom). Her beautiful gold wristlet watch was a gift from the bridegroom's father. Miss Evelyn Sondergeld (sister of the bride) acted as bridesmaid. M. Scurrah (Ipswich) acted as best man. After the ceremony the bridal party drove to the residence of the bride's parents, where a large party of relatives and friends were entertained at a wed ding tea. Mr. and Mrs A Bros nan left by the evening's train for Toowooinba en route to Brisbane and the Tweed for the honeymoon."5,1
  • Alan McDonald Brosnan joined the AIF, regimental number 3467 on 14 July 1917. He was a farmer of Crow's Nest and gave his wife as Florence Mary Brosnan. He joined the 2nd Light Horse, 30th Reinforcement as a Private. His Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAS A38 Ulysses on 19 December 1917 and he returned to Australia on 26 January 1919.6
  • On 5 August 1925,Alan McDonald Brosnan's daughter, Jean Margaret Brosnan was buried in Crow's Nest Cemetery.7

  • Annie Maria Brown was born on 8 July 1854 in Arlington, Gloucestershire, England. She was the daughter of William Brown and Harriet Moss.1,2
  • At the age of 21 years, 5 months and 17 days, Annie Maria Brown married Thomas Perkins on 25 December 1875 in Toowoomba, Queensland. Several years after their marriage Annie and Thomas moved north to a farm at between Emu Creek and Thornville. The older children helped to work the farm. The posts of the old cow bails are still standing and can be seen from the Emu Creek-Cooyar roadway.3,4
  • Annie Maria Brown was buried in Meringandan Cemetery.5,6
  • Annie Maria Brown died on 16 January 1892 in Queensland at age 37. She died during or just after the birth of her ninth child Walter Herbert.3,7
  • The Methodist Church in Crow's Nest erected memorial plaques to early Crow's Nest Pioneers on the Church fence. Thomas and Ann's names were amongst them.8

  • Edward Brown was born on 1 August 1874 in Merritts Creek.1,2

  • When the Perseverance Creek School was opened in November 1880, the first day pupils were John Ryan, William Diamond, Alf Ernest Bidgood, Miriam Case, Kate Diamond, Rachel Diamond, Ann Hebbel, Margaret Hebbel, Jacob Hebbel, Emily White, Mary Ryan, and George Case. The first head teacher was Thomas Walls and the School Committee consisted of Joseph Cossart (Secretary - his eldest child was only four at the time), Alf Bidgood, John Hebbel, James and John McQuillan.
    The following year Alice Brown, Joseph Cronk, John Brown, Edward Brown, Alice Cronk, Minnie Humberdross, Emma Humberdross and John Kynoch were enrolled.4

Edward Brown1

  • Edward Brown was born on 27 October 1844 in Maitland, New South Wales. He was the son of Robert Brown and Alice Cooper.1,2,3
  • At the age of 25 years, 4 months and 13 days, Edward Brown married Margaret Bowden on 12 March 1870 in Toowoomba, Queensland. At the time of Ellen's birth Margaret gave her date of marriage as 12 March 1869, at Toowoomba.1,4
  • In March 1877, Edward Brown enrolled his daugher an unknown person and John Robert William (Jack) Brown in the Crow's Nest Provisional School. His brother Edward 2, and John 6 were listed as future students for the proposed school but, according to the book, 125th Anniversary of Crow's Nest State School, only Edward started at the new school. This may be an error and should have been John. The teacher was William Jenkinson who was untrained and had to cope with an under-equipped school. There were no blackboards, slates, books etc. He left a few months later and was replaced by David Moylan.5
  • In 1881 Edward and Margaret enrolled their three eldest children John, Alice and Edward in Perseverance School.6
  • On 20 January 1881,Edward Brown's daughter, Ellen Caroline Brown was born in Fernelawn, Perseverance, Queensland.7,8,2
  • In 1901 his name appeared in the Queensland Post Office Directory. He was a farmer living at Thornville along with Robert Brown and Henry Brown, also farmers.9
  • Edward Brown and Margaret Bowden appeared on the Electoral Roll in 1903 living at Djuan. He was a farmer. His sons James, Samuel and John Robert also farmed in the Djuan/Douglas area.10
  • Edward Brown appeared on the Electoral Roll in 1930 living at Grace Street, Crow's Nest. He was a farmer.11
  • In February 1930,his wife, Margaret Bowden died in Queensland.12,13
