Wilhelm jnr returned from Germany to Groomsvillle in 1909 to marry his sweetheart, followed by August in 1910. Wilhelm jnr bought their old farm back from Walter Astbury on 25 Jan 1912. After Wilhelm senior died in Germany in 1912, Mathilde decided to return to Australia with the rest of the family in Jan 1914. Robert remained until after the war.5,6
  • At the age of 26 years, 5 months and 6 days, Richard Herman Heinrick Vonhoff married Helena Abel, daughter of Albert August Abel and Augustine Wilhelmina Raatz, on 7 December 1921 in Queensland.1

  • He was the son of Wilhelm August Robert Vonhoff and Mathilde Louisa Ulriche Brunn.2
  • In February 1908 Wilhelm Vonhoff senior, who had become homesick, took the entire family back to Germany. He sold the farm -Welke Road, Groomsville (Sub-division 3 of Portion 3619 with an area of 54 acres 1 rood 24 perches) on 5 Mar 1909 to Walter Astbury. Wilhelm jnr returned from Germany to Groomsvillle in 1909 to marry his sweetheart, followed by August in 1910. Wilhelm jnr bought their old farm back from Walter Astbury on 25 Jan 1912. After Wilhelm senior died in Germany in 1912, Mathilde decided to return to Australia with the rest of the family in Jan 1914. Robert remained until after the war.3,5
  • At the age of 21 years, 1 month and 3 days, William Robert August Vonhoff married Dorothea Louise Tewes, daughter of Carl (Heinrich) Tewes and Anna Louise Sperling, on 16 February 1910 in Queensland.6
  • William Robert August Vonhoff and Dorothea Louise Tewes appeared on the Electoral Roll between 1913 and 1954 living at Groomsville. William was a farmer and Dorothea carried out home duties.7

From 1968 to 1986 he was Deputy Chairman of the Wiltshire Quarter Sessions, recorder of Devizes, and later Recorder at the Crown Court, and finally a Circuit Judge (Western Circuit). He became a Barrister and subsequently a Queen's Councillor.4
  • At the age of 43 years, 4 months and 22 days, Desmond Harvey Weight Vowden married Iris Blanche Stafford Northcote on 28 May 1964 in the Registrary Office, Kensington, London. Desmond was the Deputy Chairman of the Wiltshire Quarter Sessions. Iris wa a widow. Witnesses to the marriage were Michael William Weight Vowden (Desmond's son) and Michael Wigram.2,4

  • Eliza Jane Vowden was baptized on 24 March 1833 in Ruan Lanihorne. Her father Stephen was a husbandman at the time of Eliza's birth.1

  • In December 1838,Eliza Jane Vowden's mother, Ann Teague died. She left a number of small children. Eliza Jane being just 5 years old, went to live with her married sister Martha Chivell.2
  • At the time of the 7 June 1841 census Eliza Jane Vowden was living in the household of Robert Chivell and Martha Vowden in Tregisiwin, Ruan Lanihorne, Cornwall. Robert is shown as a 30 year old, agricultural labourer, living with his wife Martha and daughters, Eliza Jane (who is in fact Martha's sister), 8, Mary Jane, 7, Elizabeth Ann, 5, Louisa 3, and Thurza Anna aged 1. Martha's sister Lucy worked at the farm next door.3

Joseph is shown as the 39 year old head born Grampound, a shoemaker living with his wife Eliza 38 born Ruan, a laundress and their children:- Sarah, 13 as scholar born St Blazey, Alfred 10 as scholar born Truro, Joseph jnr 8, scholar born Truro, William 5 as scholar born Truro and Emma aged 1 born Truro.5
  • Eliza Jane Vowden and Joseph Henry Mountstephen appeared on the census of 3 April 1881 in Castle Hill, Truro St Mary. Joseph is shown as a 49 year old boot and shoe maker born Grampound, living with his wife Eliza 48 born Ruanlanihorne and children Alfred aged 20 a baker and confectioner born Ruanlanihorne, William 15, an apprentice tailor and Emma 11 a scholar, both born Ruanlanihorne.8
  • Eliza Jane Vowden appeared on the census of 5 April 1891 in 4 Trennick Row, Truro. Eliza is shown as a 58 year old married nurse born Ruan Lanihorne, working for Edward Cardell a relieving officer for the poor. Her husband Joseph and daughter Sarah Mountstephen, grandson Alfred and sister Lucy Golley are living at 6 Duke Street Passage.9
  • Eliza Jane Vowden died on 12 March 1902 in Rosewin Row, Truro, at age 68. She died from syncope caused by heart disease.10,7
