From 1968 to 1986 he was Deputy Chairman of the Wiltshire Quarter Sessions, recorder of Devizes, and later Recorder at the Crown Court, and finally a Circuit Judge (Western Circuit). He became a Barrister and subsequently a Queen's Councillor.4
  • At the age of 43 years, 4 months and 22 days, Desmond Harvey Weight Vowden married Iris Blanche Stafford Northcote on 28 May 1964 in the Registrary Office, Kensington, London.   • Her marriage, at 35 years, to an unknown person was registered in the March 1903 Quarter in Islington, Middlesex Registration District. She married either John Joseph Sims or Tom Henry C Briggs.7
  • Hettie Vowden also went by the name of Etty.1

  • He was born on 6 July 1891 in Bristol, Gloucestershire. The birth was registered in the September 1891 Quarter in Barton Regis. At the time of his birth his parents lived at 32 Queen Ann Road, Bristol.1,3,2
  • He was the son of William Vowden and Elizabeth Weight.1
  • Horace Herbert Weight Vowden enlisted in the Military. He served in the first WW as a Regular Officer (Flight Lieutenant) in the Royal Air Force.2
  • At the age of 27 years and 24 days, Horace Herbert Weight Vowden married Alice Harriet Denton Clark, daughter of Frederick Clark and Alice Jane Denton, on 30 July 1918 in Rotherham, Yorkshire. At the time of his marriage he lived at West Hendon, Middlesex. Alice lived at The Cot, Nebury?, Rotherham, Yorkshire. Witnesses to the marriage were Fred Clark (Alice's father) Emma Elizabeth Denton, William Vowden (Horace's father.)1,4
