    DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT CROWS NEST, March 7. The death occurred on Tuesday evening of Mrs Henry Graham, of Brooklyn, Emu Creek, Crow's Nest, at the age of 81 years. The funeral took place on Thursday, and in the absence of the Rev R. P. Pope, the service, at the request of Mr Pope, was conducted by the Rev Richard Kerr, ex-clerk of the Presbyterian General Assembly, brother-in-law of deceased. Mr Kerr in speaking at the service held in the house, referred to the fact that he had officiated at the marriage of Mr and Mrs Graham, 32 years ago, when they took up their residence at Brooklyn, Emu Creek. The work of Mr and Mrs Graham in the district as pioneers had won the respect and esteem of a large circle of neighbours and friends and this was evidenced by the large concourse that assembled from all parts of the district at the funeral. Mrs Graham arrived in Queensland in 1880, on the Dunbar Castle (which was wrecked on the return voyage). She was then a widow and made her first home at Ramsay near Cambooya, where she lived until her marriage with Mr Graham in 1887. The late Mrs Graham is survived by her husband, Mr Henry Graham and four sons and three daughters - Robert Breydon, Ramsay, Cambooya , James Breydon, Perth (WA), Lieut Richard Breydon, Melbourne, John Breydon, Brooklyn, Emu Creek ; Mrs Hackett Warwick, Mrs Harry William, Warwick, and Mrs Norman White, Wooloowin.3

The Brisbane Courier reported on 21 September :- WEDDING AT BROOKLYN. White-Breydon. The marriage of Norman White, eldest son of Mr. J. White, of Crow's Nest, to Eliza, youngest daughter of Mrs. Graham, of Brooklyn, took place at the Methodist Church, Brooklyn, on Tuesday, 17th instant, the church being beautifully decorated for the occasion. The Rev. Charles Wesley officiated. The bride was given away by Mr. H. Graham, and looked charming in a gown of Duchess satin veiled with cream silk lace, trimmed with pearl passementeries and orange blossom, and carried a very pretty shower bouquet. The bridesmaids were Miss Black and Miss Crawford. The first wore cream crepe with trans parent yoke and collar, bodice prettily tucked, and trimmed with blue chiffon, and a very pretty crinoline straw hat,'trimmed with blue chiffon and cream roses; the second bridesmaid wore cream nun's veiling, fancy transparent yoke, trimmed peacock bebe ribbon, crinoline straw hat, trimmed with peacock chiffon and cerise roses. The bridesmaids had pretty bangles, the gift of the bridegroom, and carried handsome bouquets. The best man was Mr. Ray White, and the groomsman Mr. J. Breydon. Mrs. Graham, mother of the bride, wore a costume of fine black bengaline, trimmed with lace, over cream satin, finished with jet bonnet ensuite Mrs. J. White, mother of bridegroom, wore a very handsome dress of brocade with garniture of cream chiffon, edged with chenille. The wedding was a very quiet one. Mr. and Mrs. Graham re ceived a few relatives and friends after the cere mony. Some very handsome presents were re ceived, and numerous cheques; bridegroom to bride, pearl and diamond brooch set in a crescent, and a gold muff chain , bride to bride groom, valuable Cutler writing-desk. The travelling dress was of biscuit coloured voile, richly trimmed with cream silk guipure, and hat en suite. the bride and the bridegroom drove in from Brooklyn and caught the mail train from Crow's Nest, en route for Maryborough.1

It read:- The death of Mrs. Norman White, of "Alverna," Bellevue Terrace, Wooloowin, occurred on Tuesday of last week after a brief illness, although she had been in indifferent health for some time past. The late Mrs. White was bom at Knockmacrooney, County Fermanagh, Ireland, and arrived in Queensland with her mother and family on the last voyage of the Dunbar Castle to Brisbane. Her mother, Mrs. John Breydon, became one of the pioneer settlers at Ramsay, near Toowoomba, and founded the property known as Summer Hill. Later she lived at Brooklyn for some years, and was married to Mr. Norman White, of Crow's Nest, in 1901. Her husband and two daughters. Misses Beryl and Clarice White, survive her. Mrs. White was an active church worker in the Crow's Nest and other districts in which she resided, and was well known for her unobtrusive acts of sympathy and kindness. She was a woman of simple tastes and a lover of her home and garden."9

    DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT CROWS NEST, March 7. The death occurred on Tuesday evening of Mrs Henry Graham, of Brooklyn, Emu Creek, Crow's Nest, at the age of 81 years. The funeral took place on Thursday, and in the absence of the Rev R. P. Pope, the service, at the request of Mr Pope, was conducted by the Rev Richard Kerr, ex-clerk of the Presbyterian General Assembly, brother-in-law of deceased. Mr Kerr in speaking at the service held in the house, referred to the fact that he had officiated at the marriage of Mr and Mrs Graham, 32 years ago, when they took up their residence at Brooklyn, Emu Creek. The work of Mr and Mrs Graham in the district as pioneers had won the respect and esteem of a large circle of neighbours and friends and this was evidenced by the large concourse that assembled from all parts of the district at the funeral. Mrs Graham arrived in Queensland in 1880, on the Dunbar Castle (which was wrecked on the return voyage). She was then a widow and made her first home at Ramsay near Cambooya, where she lived until her marriage with Mr Graham in 1887. The late Mrs Graham is survived by her husband, Mr Henry Graham and four sons and three daughters - Robert Breydon, Ramsay, Cambooya , James Breydon, Perth (WA), Lieut Richard Breydon, Melbourne, John Breydon, Brooklyn, Emu Creek ; Mrs Hackett Warwick, Mrs Harry William, Warwick, and Mrs Norman White, Wooloowin.3
  • John Breydon and Ruby Violet Thornber appeared on the Electoral Roll in 1930 living at Brooklyn, Djuan. John was a grazier.10
  • Between 1930 and 1933 he was the Chairman of the Crow's Nest Shire Council.

  • On 7 March 1933 John Breydon's obituary appeared in The Brisbane Courier. It read:- "The death occurred on Sunday afternoon, at his residence, Brooklyn, Haden [Emu Creek], of Councillor John Breydon, chairman of the Crow's Nest Shire Council. Although the deceased had not enjoyed good health for some time, his death came somewhat unexpectedly. He was in his 58th year, and had represented No. 3 Division of the council for the past nine years, and during the latter three he had been chairman. He was a keen worker for the Methodist Church, and in addition to being a local preacher, he was a trustee and a church steward at Gowrie Flat. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at Glenaven [Emu Creek] cemetery, and was largely attended. Prior to the service at the graveside, the Rev. Ira Meneir conducted a brief service at the home. All the local bodies were represented at the grave side. The late Councillor Breydon is survived by a widow, four daughters, two sons, two sisters, and two brothers; He was a native of County Fermanagh, North Ireland."11
  • The Methodist Church in Crow's Nest erected memorial plaques to early Crow's Nest Pioneers on the Church fence. Henry's Graham's name, along with that of his wife Jane (nee Savage, formerly Breydon), & step son John Breydon were amongst them - Henry Graham, Jane Savage.12

The funeral took place on Wednesday."5
