  • John William Gratton enlisted in the Australian Army on 7 March 1941 in Toowoomba. He was a motor mechanic and gave his wife Phillis Minnie Gratton of 74 Mary St, Toowoomba as his next of kin. At the time of his death he was a Sergeant in the Reserve Motor Transport Company.4
  • John William Gratton died on or after 12 September 1944 at age 39. He was taken prisioner of war in Java and was presumed dead for official purposes.4

  • At the age of 30 years, 1 month and 11 days, Amelia Graving married George Parton, son of Thomas Parton and Margaret Moore, on 11 July 1900 in Emu Creek. Amelia was living at Middle Ridge when she was married. George and Amelia lived in Crows Nest for 11 years after their marriage before moving to Glenaven where they took part in mixed farming, dairying and cattle grazing. George also had a bullock team.5,2

She leaves one son— Mr. G. Parton (Kumbia), and six daughters— Mesdames A. E. Emmert (Wutul), R. H. Geraghty (Goombungee). H. E. R. Dann (Nambour). C. B. Bidgood (Nambour). E. G. Morris (Glenavon) and Miss P. Parton (Crow's Nest.)14"
  • She was buried in Emu Creek Cemetery.1

They settled on land Henry had selected at Wutul near Cooyar. They built a store and butcher shop and raised seven children at Wutul before moving to Yatala in 1920 where their eight child was born. They later moved back to Wutul where two more children were born and they ran a dairy farm.3,1

  • At the age of 24 years, 11 months and 18 days, August Graving married Alice Parton, daughter of Harriet Parton, on 25 October 1893 in Westbrook, Queensland.1,6,7
  • August Graving selected land in Djuan. A notice appeared in "The Queenslander" on 23 December 1893 stating a Certificate of Deed had been granted for 160 acres.8
  • He was elected to the first Crows Nest Shire Council.9

And on 6 December 1947 "Deceased: AUGUST GRAVING, late of Emu Creek, Crow's Nest, in the State of Queensland, Grazier. Applicants: GUSS GRAVING, of Emu Creek, Crow's Nest aforesaid, Farmer, and HENRY WILLIAM GRAVING, of Emu Creek, Crow's Nest aforesaid, formerly of Biloela. In the said State, Freeholder, the lawful Sons of the said deceased, the Executors, appointed by the Will, dated the Thirteenth day of October, One thousand nine hundred and forty-seven. Solicitors: WONDERLEY & HALL, 14 Russell Street, Toowoomba. Town Agents."18
