  • Thomas Reid began military service on 23 July 1940 in Gaythorne, Brisbane. His service record was Q303732. He was living at North Tamborine at the time of his enlistment and gave his next of kin as Lillian Reid (his wife). He gave his date of birth as 9 May 1891 instead of 1890 perhaps to enable him to be eligable for enlistment as a man of under 50 years of age.
  • He ended military service on 1 December 1948. At the time of his discharge he was a Private in the 5th C O D.
  • Thomas Reid died in 1973 in Queensland.

From there Flo moved to Salam Nursing Home in Toowoomba and Alice to Dr McDonald Nursing Home in Oakey.
  • Florence Lillie Reimers died on 9 August 1995 in Salam Nursing Home, Toowoomba, at age 91. She is buried with her sister Alice.

  • Johann Matthias (John) Reimers was born on 23 December 1835 in Tellingateld, Schleawig-Holstein, Germany. He was the son of Jacob Diedrich Reimers and Antje Gluving.
  • At the age of 29 years, 7 months and 7 days, Johann Matthias (John) Reimers married Anna Nikolina Christina Menzel on 30 July 1865 in Tellingateld, Schleawig-Holstein, Germany.
  • Johann Matthias (John) Reimers and Anna Nikolina Christina Menzel immigrated on 24 December 1865. Johann and Anna immigrated from Holstein, then part of Denmark. They arrived on the La Rochelle. The family lived in a number of places (Ipswich, Toowoomba, Stanthorpe, Toowoomba) before settling on a farm of 80 acres at Shirley where they grew oranges and grapes to make wine.
  • In December 1880 Johann applied for a deed of Grant on 40 acres of land at Meringandan. The following year he was granted approval for a further 20 acres adjoining the land. During this time he continued to work for the Toowoomba City Council, a position he had held since arriving in the district.
  • Johann was buried on 30 June 1919 in Cabarlah Cemetery. LUTH1-00F-0018.
  • Johann Matthias (John) Reimers died on 29 September 1919 in Shirley, Queensland, at age 83. He died from Senitity, nephritis and cardiac failure.

  • John Matthew (Jack) Reimers was born on 16 July 1866 in Toowoomba, Queensland. He often called himself John Frederick.
  • He was the son of Johann Matthias (John) Reimers and Anna Nikolina Christina Menzel.
  • John Matthew (Jack) Reimers selected land at Mt Bismark. Mt Bismark was later renamed to Maclagan during the war. This was a virgin block in "The Big Scrub" of 640 acres with half scrub and half forest vegetation. After clearing the forest near a creek, he built a hut, only roof and walls. In 2017,
    Adrian Reimers recalled his father (Carl Godfrey Reimers) often saying that he and his brother (John Matthew "Jack"
    Reimers) stopped their dray at the site where they later built the house near the creek, and they just dropped their gear and
    said "This will do"
    in 1890 in Maclagan.
  • At the age of 25 years, 6 months and 4 days, John Matthew (Jack) Reimers married Annie Catherina Margareta Peters, daughter of Hans Jacob Wilhelm Peters and Margaretha Christina Wieden, on 20 January 1892 in Lutheran Church, Meringandan, Queensland.
  • John Matthew (Jack) Reimers appeared on the Electoral Roll between 1903 and 1925 living at Forest View Farm, Quinalow. He was a farmer.
