  • George Robert Albert Quirey enlisted in the AIF on 14 January 1918 in Toowoomba. He stated he was born on 16 nov 1896 and was a carter, born Clifton. He gave his next of kin as his father Joseph, of Glenaven, Crow's Nest. This was later changed to his wife Ruby who he married a few weeks before leaving for England. He stated he suffered from Catarrh. He was 5ft 3 1/2 inches tall, 120 lbs with grey eyes and brown hair, of presbyterian faith.
    He left for England on 18 May 1918 and served in France in 1919 and returned to Australia on 5 Sep 1919.
