  • On 23 December 1877,George McGregor's mother, Mary Stuart died in Holsworthy, New South Wales, Australia, at age 73. Her death was caused by "decay of nature, had been ailing some time - the coroner did not deem it necessary to hold an inquest.". She was shown as 74 years old. Her father was given as John Stewart, cattle dealer, mother unknown. The informant was George McGregor her son of Holsworthy. George gave Scotland as her place of birth and stated she had been in the Colony 30 years. Her first marriage was to a McPherson, the second to a McGregor. One son alive, two daughters dead by first marriage, two sons and two daughters alive by second, and one son and one daughter dead by second.
