  • Marie Louise (Louisa or Elouise) Koch married Christian Godenschwager before 1882. Her first husband was Michael Johann Gottlieb Grading 1821-1868, father of Carl.
  • Marie Louise (Louisa or Elouise) Koch and Christian Godenschwager immigrated to Queensland on 13 January 1883. The ship's passenger list shows a family consisting of Chris 41, Marie 45 and Alund 11 either daugther of niece of Christian, surname GODENSCHAGER and Carl Grading 23, son of Marie, arriving on the Almora.

  • On 12 December 1912,her husband, Christian Godenschwager died in Queensland at age 71. The Queensland Times reported "DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT. The death occurred, on Thursday, of Mr. Godenschwager, a very old resident of this district. It appears that Mr. Godenschwager went out on Wednesday last to get a load of wood with a waggon and one horse. The horse shied, and slewing suddenly locked the wheels, overturning the waggon and tossing the driver out. The unfortunate man received internal injuries, besides nasty abrasions to the face. He died on Thursday as a result of the injuries. The funeral took place to-day to the local Baptist cemetery. He leaves a wife to mourn her loss. He lived close to Egelsburg for a number of years, shifting to Charlwood (where he met his death) about 12 months ago. The Rev. Pastor Krueger officiated at the grave side."
    The cemetery records show him as 71 years 9 mounths old, a farmer.

Wecker, who had lived by himself for some years, had been in indifferent health for several months. Earlier in the week he had complained to neighbours of a severe pain around his heart, and had declared his intention of getting medical aid. It was not until yesterday that residents in the vicinity recalled that the old man had not been seen about for a day or two. Becoming anxious they notified Mr. H. Cavell, an ambulance bearer, who lives in the same street. Mr. Cavell found Wecker dead on the floor of the bathroom. Death had apparently taken place about two days previously. Wecker, who was of German descent, had resided in the district for about 70 years. He was a married man with a family of 15 children. Of the family seven are living, the oldest being 60 years of age."
