  • Mary Ann Smith was born on 12 February 1843 in Tasmania. She was the daughter of convicts William SMITH and Ellen DONOVAN.
  • She was baptized on 2 April 1843 in Tasmania.
  • At the age of 17 years, 6 months and 20 days, Mary Ann Smith married George Burgess, son of George Burgess and Ann Haines, on 1 September 1860 in Tasmania. Witnesses to their marriage were George's brother and sister William and Maria BURGESS. Both George and Mary Ann signed with their marks. The minsiter was John McIntyre. George established a farm in the Delorane area.
  • Mary Ann Smith died on 10 August 1910 in Tasmania at age 67.
