  • At the age of 29 years, 2 months and 2 days, Rev Archibald William James Vowden married Kathleen Leonora Frances Parsons, daughter of George Parsons and Hannah Lawrence, on 2 March 1918 in Gloucestershire. At the time of his marriage he was a Second Lieutenant in the Labour Corps and lived at 15 Jubilee Road, Bristol. Witnesses to the marriage were Elizabeth Vowden (Archibald's mother), William Vowden (Archibald's father), Edith Elizabeth Mansbridge (Archibald's sister), F Mansbridge, and Edith Parsons.
  • In 1928 he was ordained as a Clerk in Holy Orders and because curate of All Saints and St Nicholas Church in Bristol. In 1939 he was a teacher at Cotham School in Bristol.
  • Rev Archibald William James Vowden witnessed the marriage of Ida Beatrice Vowden and Arthur William Rockett on 15 June 1937 in Henleaze, Gloucestershire; Arthur was a widower at the time of his marriage to Ida. Witnesses to the marriage were Walter John Rockett , Percival Mansbridge (Ida's brothe-in-law), Archibald Vowden (Ida's brother) Edith Mansbridge (Edith's sister) and Florence Emily Bishop.
  • Between 1939 and 1948 Archibald was a Chaplain in the forces, his rank wa Lieutenant Colonel R A. He as later awarded an MBE (military). After the war he became curate of Wickwar, Gloucestershire.
  • On 17 March 1960,his wife, Kathleen Leonora Frances Parsons died in Gloucestershire at age 70.
  • Rev Archibald William James Vowden was buried in March 1966. He was buried in the Vowden family grave at Wickwar Parish Churchy, Gloucestershire.

  • After an education at Clifton College, Desmon joined the Royal Navy as a regular Officer in 1938. In 1950 he retired from the Navy with the rank of Captain in the Royal Marines when he was called to the Bar. From 1968 to 1986 he was Deputy Chairman of the Wiltshire Quarter Sessions, recorder of Devizes, and later Recorder at the Crown Court, and finally a Circuit Judge (Western Circuit). He became a Barrister and subsequently a Queen's Councillor.
  • At the age of 43 years, 4 months and 22 days, Desmond Harvey Weight Vowden married Iris Blanche Stafford Northcote on 28 May 1964 in Kensington. Desmond was the Deputy Chairman of the Wiltshire Quarter Sessions. Iris wa a widow. Witnesses to the marriage were Michael William Weight Vowden (Desmond's son) and Michael Wigram.
  • Desmond Harvey Weight Vowden died on 22 July 1990 in Royal United Hospital, Bath, at age 69. He died frm broncopneumonia.
