His age was given as 92 years, 11 months and was a farmer, son of Christian Dorries, also a farmer, and Annie Frike. The informants were his son in law WE Hawes of Taylor Street, and daughter ML Smith of Greenwattle Street.

The car hood was ripped off, and Dorries' chest was crushed by the impact."

He was modest and retiring to the end, and deeply appreciated his home and the company of his wife and child, whom he dearly loved."
