  • Mary Eggar was born on 15 December 1805.
  • She was the daughter of James Eggar and Sarah Bacon.
  • Mary Eggar was baptized on 28 May 1806 in Holybourne.
  • At the age of 27 years, 4 months and 5 days, Mary Eggar married James Jefferis, son of Thomas Jeffery Jefferis and Ann Kemp, on 20 April 1833 in Binsted near Alton, Hampshire.
  • Her death was recorded with the Alton, Hampshire Registration District in the December 1845 Quarter . She possibly died after the birth of her fifth child Mary Eggar Jefferis who was born on Christmas day 1845. NOTE: According to the death registration she was 45 years old but this is unlikely as her parents were only married in 1803.

Robert Norman Webb (Jane's father, a coal and timber merchant), Ethel Jefferis ?, James Jefferis (father), Susan Hooper(her maternal aunt) and Thomas Eggar (James Eggar's uncle) were present at the marriage. Jane Louisa Webb was most likely a relation of Sarah Webb (James' second wife) as they were both born in Henley on Thames.

After residing for many years in the Crow's Nest district she was married to Mr. William Cox at Toowoomba. Mr. and Mrs. Cox came to the Wondai district some 25 years ago, and engaged in farming, after which a move was made to Speed well, where they made their home. The death of her husband occurred some 11 months ago, in the Monto district. Two daughters— Mrs. G. Perkins (Kitoba) and Mrs. H. Warhurst (Ceratodus)— and three sons— Messrs. Arthur, William and Leslie Cox of Speedwell— survive."
