  • Mary Jolly and Mary Ladner Mitchell immigrated to Queensland on 19 October 1876. Mary 48, and her daughter Mary 15, travelled on the Sepia. Her husband William and sons John and Francis had travelled to Queensland in 1874.
  • Mary Jolly died on 7 June 1895 in Queensland. According to William's obituary, Mary was killed by a falling tree.
  • Mary was buried in June 1895 in Crow's Nest Cemetery.
  • The Methodist Church in Crow's Nest erected memorial plaques to early Crow's Nest Pioneers on the Church fence. Luke and Mary's names were amongst them.

The census record shows Ann as a 50 year old, born Bloxwich living with her husband James,also shown as a 50 year old anvil blade maker born Bloxwich, and nieces Hariet aged 8, and Emma aged 6 and nephew Sampson Chambers aged 5. All the children were scholars. Ann Jones, Ann's mother, lived next door.

  • At the age of 25 years, 7 months and 3 days, Caroline Jones married Robert Percy Jefferis, son of James Eggar Jefferis and Jane Louisa Webb, on 15 July 1898 in Rockhampton, Queensland. According to family hearsay the marriage was "out of necessity". Caroline must have been planning to marry Robert Percy for some time as she had received a telegram on 6 April 1898, three months before the wedding, from a former boyfriend Albert J Body regarding her marriage: "My advice don't do so. Letter first mail". Robert Percy was a labourer at the time of his marriage.
  • Caroline Jones's and Robert Percy Jefferis's first child, Ethel Ivy Eggar Jefferis (known as Ivy) was born 13 March 1899 in Rockhampton. Her father's occupation was shown as a labourer on her birth certificate.
  • On 1 October 1901 Robert Percy, Caroline and Ivy left Rockhampton for Sydney on their way to South Africa.
  • A few years after the birth of Arthur, Percy and Caroline separated. She returned to England with the children for a while, staying with Percy's family and impling she had left for her or Ivy's health's sake. She went back to South Africa but they returned to England on the SS Grantully Castle on May 1914. Both Caroline and Ivy then went to work in a munitions factory.
  • Between 1944 and 1948 Caroline Jones lived in "Fairview", 17 Alexandra Road, Epsom, Surrey. She lived with her daughter Ivy and son-in-law Carl.
  • Caroline Jones died on 10 January 1954 at age 81.

  • Charlotte Jones was born on 11 March 1823 in Littlethorpe, Leicestershire. She was the daughter of Robert JONES and Ann RUTCHUSON.
  • At the age of 24 years, 7 months and 10 days, Charlotte Jones married Thomas Perkins on 21 October 1847 in Clipston, Leicestershire.
  • Charlotte Jones and Thomas Perkins immigrated to Moreton Bay on 25 September 1850. They travelled with their daughter Charlotte. The immigration record showed Thomas (the son of William and Elizabeth Perkins) was a 27 year old shepherd, native of Chepstowe, Northumberland and Charlotte (nee Jones) was 27 years old. (She is listed as a Convalscent - 1850). Their infant daughter Charlotte, native of Chepstowe was with them.


    In 1855 Thomas bought two blocks of land at Spring Creek two years later and the family began farming there. According to his obituary he managed Cecil Plains Station from 1858-1860, though his son Thomas was born there in 1857. The family then moved back to Toowoomba where Thomas became the first butcher.
  • Charlotte Jones died on 27 July 1874 in Spring Creek, Queensland, at age 51.
  • Charlotte was buried in Toowoomba & Drayton Cemetery. BC1-007-0004.
