The Camden News reported:- " The marriage was celebrated at the Methodist Church, Camden, on June 27th, by the Rev. A. H. Johnstone, of Stella, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Moore, of Glenmore, Camden, to James Victor, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. David Johnston, of 'Ellenthorpe,' Tenterfield. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of ivory crepe de chine with the customary wreath and veil, and carried a shower bouquet of white sweet peas, Iceland poppies and pale pink carnations. Miss Edna Moore, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid, and wore powder blue crepe de chine with black picture hat, and carried a shower bouquet of pale pink sweet peas and pink passion blossom, with pink ribbon streamers. Mr. Dave Staines, of Kingaroy, Queensland, nephew of the bridegroom, acted as best man. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. Mr. Frank Whiteman presided at the organ. A reception was held in the Methodist School Hall, where the guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore a gown of black figured marocain, and carried a posy of violets and wallflowers veiled with brown tulle. Later the newly wedded pair left for the South Coast, the bride travelling in a costume of grey repp and small black hat. "

- On 26 November 1915,their son, Cecil Robert Johnston died in Dorrigo, New South Wales. He died from injuries he received when he was kicked by a horse.
- On 26 August 1924,their son, Eric Lance Johnston died in Queensland at age 12. He was injured when he was knocked off his horse when it ran under a tree on the way home from school. He lived a few days after the accident.

- John Wesley Johnston was the informant of the death of Sarah Jane Crawford on 17 September 1939 in 221 Haley St, Kingaroy, Queensland. The cause of death was steniplegia (stroke?), arteriosclerosis, senility. Certified by J W Johnston son-in-law, Haly Street Kingaroy. At the time of her death she was living at 221 Haly Street with her daughter Fran and son in law Wes Johnston.
- On 2 September 1943,their son, Stanley Maxwell (Max) Johnston died in England at age 23. The Wellington crashed between the Model Farm buildings and Knightsbridge Farm buildings in South Oxfordshire at 21.45 on the 2nd September 1943. The aircraft was on a night training exercise from OTU Westcott; no reason was given for the accident although apparently it is made clear on the full reports that no blame was attributed to the crew. This bomber had been damaged more than once during its time with a Czech squadron before it became a training aircraft . The aircraft caught fire and all five crew members died; the four Australians are all buried at Botley and the Irishman’s body was repatriated. At the time of his death Max held the rank of Flying Officer in the 11th Operational Training Unit. His name is listed on the Roll of Honour at Wooroolin (16km north of Kingaroy) in Queensland.
