  • Dr Ernest Knight Overend was born circa 1860. He was the son of Isabella Martha Campbell and James C Overend, railway contractor. Sister of Mrs W Young Goombungee.
  • Dr Ernest Knight Overend married Euphemia Lizzie     Caldwell in 1884 in Queensland.
  • He witnessed the death of Sarah Mary Theresa (May) Mitchell on 1 October 1908 in Crow's Nest, Queensland; The following article appeared in the Darling Downs Gazette on 3 October 1908:- "The death of May Mitchell, aged 14 took place this afternoon. It appears that the deceased, who was not feeling well, was brought into town yesterday, and seemed fairly well until toward evening when she grew delirious and was nearly continuously so up to the end. Dr Overend was in attendance, but the case was beyond relief and death was due to brain fever and heart failure Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell are amongst the oldest residents of this district and much sympathy is expressed for them in their bereavement”.
  • In September 1910 He left Crow's Nest to take up a practice in Charleville.
  • In February 1919 He was appointed medical officer at Bundarra Hospital.
  • Dr Ernest Knight Overend died on 12 December 1919 in Imperial Hotel, Crow's Nest, Queensland. The Daily Mail reported: "The death occurred at Crow's Nest on Thursday night of Dr. E. K. Overend, who had been for some time in failing health. He panned away quietly in his sleep at the Imperial Hotel, where he and his wife were staying. The late Dr. Overend was the eldest son of the late Mr. James Overend, the well-known railway contractor, of Brisbane, and was educated at Melbourne University, where he took hia degree. He was practising in Crow's Nest for about four years ,leaving about eight years ago to take a trip to England. On his return be practised in Charleville, and latterly at Beenleigh. Dr. Overend was the first president of the Crow's Nest School of Arts. He leaves a wife and one daughter, Mrs. W.C. M. Palmer, of London. The funeral will take place at 10 o'clock this morning, for the Crow's Nest Cemetery."
