The Camden News reported:- " The marriage was celebrated at the Methodist Church, Camden, on June 27th, by the Rev. A. H. Johnstone, of Stella, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Moore, of Glenmore, Camden, to James Victor, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. David Johnston, of 'Ellenthorpe,' Tenterfield. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of ivory crepe de chine with the customary wreath and veil, and carried a shower bouquet of white sweet peas, Iceland poppies and pale pink carnations. Miss Edna Moore, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid, and wore powder blue crepe de chine with black picture hat, and carried a shower bouquet of pale pink sweet peas and pink passion blossom, with pink ribbon streamers. Mr. Dave Staines, of Kingaroy, Queensland, nephew of the bridegroom, acted as best man. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. Mr. Frank Whiteman presided at the organ. A reception was held in the Methodist School Hall, where the guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore a gown of black figured marocain, and carried a posy of violets and wallflowers veiled with brown tulle. Later the newly wedded pair left for the South Coast, the bride travelling in a costume of grey repp and small black hat. "

Deceased was a native of King's County, Ireland, and came to Queensland when very young. Deceased spent the greater part of his ife in Crow's Nest and Cooyar and also resided in Capella for a short time. He followed the occupation of droving and was a man well liked by all with whom he was acquainted. His remains left St. Patrick's Church for the Toowoomba cemetery. The last sad rites were conducted by Rev. Father Madden.

  The death of Mr Thomas Moran on December 4 last, at the age of 91, has removed another of that fast dwindling band of pioneers whose hardihood, energy and enterprise laid the basis for the development and advancement of Central Queensland.
  Mr Moran was a man of remarkable vitality and despite his great age tended his garden and took a keen interest in current affairs. His death, which occurred in a private hospital, was preceded by only a short illness.
  Mr Moran was born at Drayton, in the Dalby district, in 1863. He was first employed as a butcher boy at 2/6 a week in Brisbane, delivering orders by horse with a basket on his knee. At that time the corner of Ann and Edward streets, opposite the present site of the People's Palace, was a saleyard for stock and consisted of box saplings tied to bush trees. South Brisbane was then open forest country and on many occasions Mr Moran mustered cattle there.
  Later, he worked with his brother who was head stockman on Emu Creek cattle station, Crow's Nest. In his early teens, he journeyed from that district with a mob of station horses to Leichhardt station, in the Clermont district. That was the beginning of his long association with Central Queensland. On delivery of the horses be stayed in the district and followed all classes of station work. He married in 1884.
  Success did not come easily in those early days. It called for tenacity of purpose, hard work, long hours and the ability to meet and overcome adversity. At this stage, Mr Moran ventured into any avenue that gave promise of bettering his station in life. With his wife and family he journeyed by dray and horses to the gold rush at Croydon and Maytown, North Queensland. He was a shearer (one of the old-time blade men) and was in the Alice Downs shed when the famous Jackie Howe shore the world record tally of sheep. Other occupations followed by Mr Moran were hawker, butcher end general storekeeper at Capella. He entered the grazing industry in the Capella district and was a successful sheep man for many years. In later years he purchased the well-known Myola Hall, at Yeppoon.
  Mr Moran was a councillor and Chairman of the Peak Downs Shire Council for a number of years and during his period of office many im- provements in road communication and public buildings were placed to his credit. He was a lover and a good judge of horses and, in fact, all kinds of stock. His abiding interest pertained to the land. It was typical of his extraordinary physical endurance that on one occasion he rode 313 miles without a break, using two horses. The ride was through Capella to Clermont and back, twice.
  Mr Moran's wife died in 1895 and he married again in 1897. There were four children by the first marriage and two by the second. Three of them predeceased him. His second wife died in 1953. Mr Moran is survived by the following children and step-children: Mrs M. J. Walsh (Rockhampton), Mrs A. M. Massey (Yeppoon), Mrs L. C. Croyden (Mackay), Mrs O. W. Smith (Yeppoon), Mr T. M. Moran (Brisbane), Mr G. P. Moran (Rockhampton), and Mr J. W. Willmott (Rockhampton). There are numerous grand children and great-grand children.
  Mr Moran was of a quiet and reserved disposition, but was easy of approach. He had a kind nature and in a quiet way, with no desire for publicity, assisted people in times of distress.
  He was a member of the Peak Downs Masonic Lodge, also Past Master and foundation and honorary member of the Capella Masonic Lodge.
  His remains were interred in the Rockhampton cemetery.
