  • Her marriage, at 22 years and 3 months, to George Woods, son of George Woods, was registered in the December 1841 Quarter in St George East, Middlesex Registration District.
  • Sarah Ann Fleet and George Woods had six children . Fanny, the eldest and Martha, the youngest died as infants. They, together with their siblings Sarah Ann, George Michael, Emma Mary and Robert Henry were born in or around London, where George worked as a butcher.
  • In 1859 he was Housekeeper.
  • Sarah Ann Fleet immigrated to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, on 14 September 1859. Sarah aged 40, came to Australia with her four children: - Sarah Ann aged 16, a native of Middlesex who could read and write; George Michael aged 14, also a native of Middlesex who could read and write, Church of England; Emma Mary aged 11 who could read and write and was a native of Middlesex; and Robert Henry aged 7, a native of Middlesex. They travelled from England on the Parsee, her husband George having immigrated some time before. She was listed on "Parsee’s passenger list under Section Headed - "Wives of Persons Resident in the Colony". From the Depositors Record it shows a Dr Dodd (Todd) of Kent Road Bermondsey, London gave a good character reference for Sarah and her children to emigrate. Dr George Michael Todd was Sarah's half brother, son of her mother's first husband. She was from Middlesex and religion Church of England. She could read and write and was a housekeeper. The ship left Southampton on the 7 June 1859 and reached Sydney after a voyage lasting 95 days. There were 424 immigrants on board.
  • On 24 September 1873,her husband, George Woods died in Albert Memorial Hospital, Wollongong, New South Wales. Cause of death was failure of hearts action caused by intemperance. He had been ill for about 10 days before his death. A Dr Lyons had seen him on the day of his death. According to the death certificate, a coroner’s inquest was held but to date no details have been found.
  • Sarah Ann Fleet died on 22 August 1874 in Surry Hills, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, at age 54.
  • Sarah was buried on 24 August 1874 in Haslam's Creek Presbyterian Cemetery. Her funeral notice appeared in The Sydney Morning Herald:- THE FRIENDS of Mr. GEORGE W. WOODS, Butcher, are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral of his deceased MOTHER, Sarah Ann; to move from his residence, 96, Albion-street, off Elizabeth-street, Surry Hills, THIS AFTERNOON, at half-past 2 o'clock, for the Necropolis."

(Was this person Samuel and Jane's grandfather, husband of Ann who is shown as a widow and living by herself on the same census?)
