- On 8 February 1910Frederick Wecker's orbituary appeared in The Brisbane Courier. It read:- Mr Frederick Wecker of Strasburg, Mt Gravatt died on Friday at the advanced age of 83 years. His portrait appears amongst the pioneers in the Jubilee Issue of "The Queenslander" as the veteran who fired the shot heralding separation from New South Wales. The deceased first settled at Coorparoo and owning a large property there did much towards developing this now populous suburb. His life was largely spent in helping others, and he was always a firm friend of the Lutheran Church. He served on the old Bulimba and Belmont boards. Strasburg, where he died was built by him on the German plan, and fitted with every requirement for extensive dairying. It was stated that he was the first to stall cattle, and was one of the pioneers of the dairying industry in Queensland. Throughout a long and wearying illness the deceased was devotedly nursed by his wife."

- Johann August Wecker enlisted in the AIF on 27 October 1914 in Brisbane John's service number was 503. He was an insurance clerk. His father Michael was listed as his next of kin and lived at Yeulba. He was 31 years old, single and enlisted as a Private in the 2nd Light Horse Field Ambulance. He embarked from Brisbane, Queensland, on board HMAT A30 Borda on 15 December 1914 and returned to Australia 4 October 1918 after serving in Egypt and Gibralter.
- After the War, John lived in the Gympie area where he grew bananas.
- At the age of 39 years, Johann August Wecker married Dorothy Wendt in 1923 in Brisbane, Queensland. Dorothy was a dressmaker.
- On 14 March 1933 John, at that time a fruit grower of Broowena, was fined for failing to submit a tax return.
- When WWII broke out, John enlised with Interpol and continued to work with them after the war persuing drug traffickers.
