The Daily Standard reported [not very accurately] on the wedding. "On May 10, at the Neil-street Methodist Church, Geham, the wedding took place of Mr. R. Askin (second son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Askin, Crow's Nest) and Miss Marjorie Sattler (youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
    H. Sattler, Geham). Rev. J. Stirling (Crow's Nest) officiated.
    The bride, who was given away by her father, was gowned in corded brocaded taffeta, adorned with a shoulder posy of lily of the valley; her veil, which was worn with a wreath of orange blossoms, was lent by Mrs. R. L. Askin, and fell In soft folds below the uneven hemline of her gown. She carried a bouquet of sweet peas and jonquils, tied with white satin streamers.
    Miss Iris Adams, who was bridesmaid, wore a deep cream mariette frock, with a pointed hip yoke, and finished with a shoulder posy of yellow roses. She carried a bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums tied with satin streamers.
    Mr. Cyril Askin was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Cafe Alexandria. Mrs. Sattler, who received the guests, wore a frock of brown brocaded morocain and a hat to harmonise. Mrs. L. Askin was frocked in navy blue crepe de Chino, worn with a hat to tone.
    On leaving for the honeymoon, which is being spent in Brisbane, Mrs. R. Askin wore a tweed tailored costume, with a velour hat to harmonise."

His parents were living at Drillham at the time he enlisted.
  • On 20 February 1944,her husband, Robert Maunsell Bice died in Queensland. The Western Star and Roma Advertiser reported the circumstance of his death:- " MAN BADLY BURNT WHILE STUNNED - Knocked unconscious by a burning tree which he did not hear falling because he was partially deaf, Robert Maunsell Bice, 72, lay unconscious until the flames crept up to him and severely burnt both his hands. Staggering to his feet, he walked to his home, whence he was taken by the ambulance to the Miles Hospital, where he died six days later. Bice was born in Norfolk Island, where his father was a missionary. Thirty-four years ago he went to Columboola, and later settled on the land near Drillham."

  • On 8 March 1919 Jane Savage's obituary appeared in The Brisbane Courier. It read:- DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT CROWS NEST, March 7. The death occurred on Tuesday evening of Mrs Henry Graham, of Brooklyn, Emu Creek, Crow's Nest, at the age of 81 years. The funeral took place on Thursday, and in the absence of the Rev R. P. Pope, the service, at the request of Mr Pope, was conducted by the Rev Richard Kerr, ex-clerk of the Presbyterian General Assembly, brother-in-law of deceased. Mr Kerr in speaking at the service held in the house, referred to the fact that he had officiated at the marriage of Mr and Mrs Graham, 32 years ago, when they took up their residence at Brooklyn, Emu Creek. The work of Mr and Mrs Graham in the district as pioneers had won the respect and esteem of a large circle of neighbours and friends and this was evidenced by the large concourse that assembled from all parts of the district at the funeral. Mrs Graham arrived in Queensland in 1880, on the Dunbar Castle (which was wrecked on the return voyage). She was then a widow and made her first home at Ramsay near Cambooya, where she lived until her marriage with Mr Graham in 1887. The late Mrs Graham is survived by her husband, Mr Henry Graham and four sons and three daughters - Robert Breydon, Ramsay, Cambooya , James Breydon, Perth (WA), Lieut Richard Breydon, Melbourne, John Breydon, Brooklyn, Emu Creek ; Mrs Hackett Warwick, Mrs Harry William, Warwick, and Mrs Norman White, Wooloowin.
  • The Methodist Church in Crow's Nest erected memorial plaques to early Crow's Nest Pioneers on the Church fence. Henry's Graham's name, along with that of his wife Jane (nee Savage, formerly Breydon), & step son John Breydon were amongst them.
