He had been admitted to Salisbury Island Hospital in Durban and was returned to Australia.
  • At the age of 27 years, 8 months and 16 days, Alfred (Gilbert) Davis married May Grace Littleton, daughter of John Harnden (Jack) Littleton and Clara Agard Swain, on 24 January 1923 in Methodist Church, Toowoomba, Queensland. The following article appeared in The Queenslander on 3 Feb 1923:- The marriage of Mr. A.G. Davies (Crow's Nest) and Miss M. Littleton (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Littleton , Pinelands, Crow's Nest, and a great niece of Mrs. V. H. Groom, Toowoomba) was solemnised at the Toowoomba Methodist Church on January 24. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr. R. Littleton. Her travelling gown was of navy blue crepe de Chine, with bodice and loose panels, being braided and bended in henna, and a navy blue hat, lined with henna, and finished with, flowers in the same tones. Miss Edna Littleton (her sister) attended as bridesmaid, and wore apricot charmante, piped with black, and a black hat. Mr. Arthur. Hillenberg was best man. The reception was held at the Cafe Alexandra. The honeymoon will be spent at Brisbane and the seaside.
  • Sometime before in 1929Alfred (Gilbert) Davis and May Grace Littleton moved to Esk.Alfred's name appeard in a article on Esk in the Brisbane Courier :- " A. G. DAVIS. Coming from Crow's Nest, Mr. A. G. Davis, baker and confectioner, is finding excellent business in Esk. He has taken over the shop recently owned by Mr. J. W. Hurford, who established a sound connection by producing excellent bread and smallgoods. Mr. Davis, who is a returned soldier, is maintaining the reputation of the business in this regard. A cafe also is conducted on superior lines.

Greenwood) and the fathers of both bride and groom."
