Perhaps Daniel intended to come on an earlier ship but then waited for Catherina.
    Johann most likely came to Australia around 1870, certainly before 1873.
    Daniel and Catherina most likely made their way to the Toowoomba area as soon as they left the ship.

  • Eric was the best man at the wedding of Hugh Clifford (Huey) Perina and Frances Doris Berry on 18 December 1937 in St Pauls Church of England, Ipswich; An account of the wedding was published in "The Courier Mail" on Tuesday 21 December 1937. It read:- Perina — Berry ST. Pauls Church of England Ipswich, was chosen on December 18 for the marriage of Miss Francis Doris Berry (youngest daughter of Mrs.W. J. Berry, Park-street, and the late Mr. W. J. Berry) and Mr. Hugh Clifford Perina (youngest son of Mr. H. Perina, Glenmore, Crow's Nest, and the late Mrs. Perina). The Rev. R. S. Massey officiated, and the bride was given away by her brother, Mr. W. J. Berry. She wore an Ivory Chantilly lace over magnolia satin, and the whole of the gown and train was edged with double rouleau loops. A coronet of orange blossoms held her tulle veil, and she carried a shower bouquet. The bride was attended by her sister (Miss Hilda Berry) and Miss Evelyn Morre, wearing daffodil lace over satin, cut in peacock train effect. Their coronets were of fresh flowers, and their blue bouquets were finished with gilded wheat ears. Little Miss Janice Berry, niece of the bride, acted as flower girl. Mr. E. M. Perina (Crow's Nest) was best man and Mr. George Partridge (Gayndah) groomsman. At Whitehouse's Cafe, where the reception was held, the guests were re ceived by. Mrs. W. J. Berry, wearing a princess gown of black suede, georgette and lace, showing touches of gold. Leaving for the honeymoon, which will be a tour of the South Coast, the bride wore Avocado green romaine with French silk mousseline in applique.

  • Hugh was a school teacher, working at the Toowoomba North State School. An article appeared in The Courier Mail on 2 March 1925, stating " BLENHEIM. Personal.-Mr. D. W. Nicol, head teacher of the State school, is going on sick leave, and Mr. Hugh Perina, of North Toowoomba State School, is to relieve him."
  • At the age of 36 years, 4 months and 20 days, Hugh Clifford (Huey) Perina married Frances Doris Berry on 18 December 1937 in St Pauls Church of England, Ipswich. An account of the wedding was published in "The Courier Mail" on Tuesday 21 December 1937. It read:- Perina — Berry ST.   • Johann Perina was born on 3 April 1839 in Jarosov, Moravia, Czechoslovakia. He was born at the Novakova residence (his grandparents). His name in Czech was Jan, but as the official language of the time was German, it translated to Johann.
  • He was the son of Daniel Perina and Anna Novakova.
  • Johann Perina was baptized on 5 April 1839 in Prosec, Czechoslovakia.
  • At the age of 25 years, 7 months and 3 days, Johann Perina married Thecla Friedek Girr on 6 November 1864 in Jarosov, Moravia. The groom was a joiner, Protestant, single and 25 years old. He was the son of Daniel Perina, a farm hand or tenant and Anna Novakova. His parents were both Evangalics.
    The bride was Tekla Kozackova, aged 28 the Evangalic widow of Jiri Frydek, a Catholic farmer of Moravia.
    Witness to the marriage was Daniel Perina, a retired peasant cottager for Jarosov.
  • Johann Perina and Thecla Friedek Girr immigrated to Moreton Bay on 15 February 1865. Johann and Tekla and their two children, Anton, and Anna made their way to the Toowoomba area.
    Around 1873 Johann sponsored his father, Daniel to come to Australia. However, Daniel didn't arrive until 1876 coming with his daughter Catherena and her son Anton. Anton also sponsered his sister Anna and her husband Johann Patava who arrived with their children in 1875.
  • Johann worked for "Kleinmeyer" in Toowoomba as a cabinetmaker and later bought some land at Douglas, where he lived in later life. He started calling himself John to fit in with the English majority in Australia.
  • Johann Perina was naturalised in 1898 in Queensland.
  • In 1899 Johann tended to the Department of Instruction for the building of the Gormoron (between Goombungee and Meringendan) School.
  • Johann Perina died on 28 October 1900 in Queensland at age 61. He died of apoplexy and was in a coma.
  • Johann was buried on 29 October 1900 in Drayton & Toowoomba Cemetery. LUTH37-42-041-0061 - Johann's father Daniel was buried in the grave in 1877. His wife Thelka is buried next to him.

  • At the age of 27 years, 8 months and 19 days, Katerina Perina married Franz Joseph Vasina on 31 December 1876 in Douglas, Queensland. Katerina had two children Antonin and Emile, at the time of her marriage to Franz.
  • Around 1878 Katerina Perina's and Franz Joseph Vasina's first child Anna Fredricka Catharina was born in Toowoomba, although her birth does not appear to have been registerd. Eight more children were born to Franz and Catharina. Sadly four were lost before they reached adulthood. The family settled in the Douglas area where Franz most likely farmed until his death in 1946.
  • Katerina Perina and Franz Joseph Vasina lived at Douglas.Their daugther Juliana was buried there on 4 July 1900 as was Franz when he died in 1948.
  • Katerina Perina appeared on the Electoral Roll in 1913 living at Crow's Nest. Katerina/Catherina was a laundress.
  • Katerina Perina died on 22 August 1928 in Brisbane, Queensland, at age 79.

He was discharged with the rank of Private on 16 November 1944. His service number was Q104389.
  • Percy Perina died on 22 July 1971 in Brisbane, Queensland, at age 54.

Victor Cecil Clarence Perina

  • Victor Cecil Clarence Perina was born on 5 August 1898 in Queensland.
  • He was the son of Heinrich (Henry) Perina and Ada Alice Maud Loveday.
  • On 13 December 1916 Cecil had an accident while negotiating a fence. The incident was reported in "The Brisbane Courier" on 15 December 1916. The article read:- Cecil Perina (l8) was getting over a fence at Douglas yesterday, when he slipped and fell, fracturing his left forearm. He was brought to Toowoomba for medical attention.
  • On 19 June 1929 Cecil was injured while he was cutting fire wood. The incident was again reported in "The Brisbane Courier" on 20 June 1929. It read:- SAWMILL ACCIDENT.
    MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED. TOOWOOMBA. June 19.
    Cecil Perina (aged 29 years), a farmer, living near Crow's Nest, re- ceived serious injuries to-day while changing a belt on a saw bench at which he had been cutting firewood, when he was caught in it and thrown against the pulley. He received a fracture of the right thigh, a punctured wound on the left leg, lacerations to both legs, and shock. Dr Williams, of Crow's Nest, attended the injured man. The Toowoomba Ambulance brought Perina into the Toowoomba Hospital. His condition is said to be serious.

  • In 1938 Cecil received an award for bravery. The following article appeared in The Courier Mail on Thursday 24 March 1938 :- Awards For Bravery In Bush Fire TOOWOOMBA, Wednesday. — When opening the Toowoomba Show to-day the Governor Sir Leslie Wilson) presented Royal Humane Society certificates to Ambulance Bearer M. McQuillan and Mr. V. C. C. Perina. for their acts of bravery in a bush fire in the Crow's Nest district on October 28 1936.
  • At the age of 42 years, Victor Cecil Clarence Perina married Mary Seymour in 1941.
  • At the age of 43 years, 3 months and 10 days, Victor Cecil Clarence Perina married Mary Seymour, daughter of George Robert Seymour and Lizzie Victoria Mayfield Brabin, on 15 November 1941 in Queensland.
