  • The following article appeared in the The Brisbane Courier on 9 March 1904. " A public meeting of thirty Pinelands farmers was held in Travers' barn on Friday night. Last year the Government granted twelve months' extension for payment of 1903 rent, which now falls due, along with that of 1904. The meeting decided to request the Government to grant three months' extension without interest on the rent now due for 1904. Those present signed the petition and those who were unable to be at the meeting are now signing. The farmers consider the request a reasonable one owing to the past season's drought, and now that they have good crops of potatoes and corn there is little demand for the same. Market prices here are:- Best potatoes, 20/ to 25/ per ton; corn, 1/6 per bushel."
  • Michael Travers. "A social and dance were tendered to W. L. Pye, a resident of Pinelands district, at Pinelands last night, he having enlisted. There was a large attendance. Mr. Ray White presented tho guest with a silver wallet on behalf of the Patriot Committee and residents of the district, Mr. M. Travers presented him with a handsome case of silver-mounted pipes from the residents of Pinelands. Mr.Pye suitably replied."
  • In July 1917 Michael was appointed a Commissioner of the Peace.
