Last year the Government granted twelve months' extension for payment of 1903 rent, which now falls due, along with that of 1904. The meeting decided to request the Government to grant three months' extension without interest on the rent now due for 1904. Those present signed the petition and those who were unable to be at the meeting are now signing. The farmers consider the request a reasonable one owing to the past season's drought, and now that they have good crops of potatoes and corn there is little demand for the same. Market prices here are:- Best potatoes, 20/ to 25/ per ton; corn, 1/6 per bushel."
