Ralph died from a bullet wound to the head after a Winchester pea rifle discharged. An inquest was held into his death as reported by The Brisbane Courier on 25 November 1912 - An inquiry was held today into the circumstances of the death of Ralph Littleton Gowlett, of Highfields road, who was, found dead with a bullet wound in his head on November 6 in a dairy at his fathers residence. Evidence was given by Thomas Gowlett (father of the deceased), Mrs. Gowlett (mother), and Constable Scanlon who produced a certifificate from Dr Freshney showing that the immediate cause of death was a bullet wound in the brain with hemorrhage supervening. His evidence indicated that the wound was inflicted by a Winchester pea rifle accidentally exploded. Sergeant MCCarthy conducted the examination of
  witnesses.

Her travelling gown was of navy blue crepe de Chine, with bodice and loose panels, being braided and bended in henna, and a navy blue hat, lined with henna, and finished with, flowers in the same tones. Miss Edna Littleton (her sister) attended as bridesmaid, and wore apricot charmante, piped with black, and a black hat. Mr. Arthur. Hillenberg was best man. The reception was held at the Cafe Alexandra. The honeymoon will be spent at Brisbane and the seaside.

Arthur (70) who was a well known resident of the Richmond River district for many years. Born at Saddleback, near Kiama, the deceased came with his parents and other members of the family to the Dunoon district in the year 1881. There they assisted in the pioneering of the "big scrub" country.
  The late Mr. Arthur was an ardent supporter of the Methodist Church, and was a member of a band of young men who helped to pioneer the movement in the early days when cottage meetings were conducted. Together with the late "Dad" Richardson, who died some two years ago, he sat for his examination as local preacher, which work he carried on for 50 years.
  After following the occupation of farming at Dunoon for many years, deceased disposed of his interests there and went to Crow's Nest (Q), where he acquired a farm. He sold this a few years ago and, after mov ing to Toowoomba, was in business there until the time of his death.
  He is survived by five brothers, Messrs. W. J. Arthur (Lismore), H. E Arthur (Crow's Nest), S. K. Arthur (Lillian Rock), A. G. Arthur and W A. Arthur (Mullumbimby). Step sisters are Mrs. John Hewitson (Lismore) and Mrs. Jarman (Eltham.)"
