About fifteen or twenty minutes afterwards he was missed, and it was supposed he had followed his brother, who went to bring in the cows. A few minutes after this, the child was brought in by Mrs. Eyles and the daughter. He was dead, and his clothes were all wet. His daughter told him she had taken the child out of the creek which runs about sixty yards to the rear of witness's house. The water is about eighteen inches deep at the spot where his body was found. Deceased was in the habit of playing about the place.
