The fifth child of Christoph Friedrich Heilig and Christiane Katharina nee Walter JOHANN GOTTLOB was born on 23 September 1870 at Hohenhaslach, Wurttemberg, Germany, he worked in the vineyards as a young man crushing the grapes for wine. At 17 years of age he decided to migrate to Australia with his sister Johanna. Two years later the rest of the family migrated to Australia also and lived on a property at Highfields. He met and later married Maria Friedrica Bozler at Highfields on 3 October 1894. He selected a property at Glencoe of about 42 acres in area for 2/6 per acre and with the help of his brother Christoph cleared the scrub and prickly pear. During this time he worked for an orchadist and also on a station property to make some money to pay for his land at Glencoe. Later Johann and his wife built a home on their property and also added to it by buying the neighbouring properties from Charles and Gotfried Kanowski. They remained on the Glencoe farm for the rest of their lives rearing a family of seven, six sons and one daughter. Maria Friedrica died 26 January 1928 and Johann Gottlob on 29 June 1951. Both are buried at the Glencoe Cemetery. - Johann was buried in Glencoe Cemetery.
