  • On 1 January 1907 the family was involved in a coach mishap on the Tenterfield-Casino road. The Warwick Examiner reported on 5th January :- "The Tenterfield-to-Casino mail-coach overturned on Tuesday night, the horses being frightened by a cow that was lying in the roadway. The pas sengers were the Rev.D. D. Carruthers, Mr. and Mrs. French and their infant daughter. Mr. Carruthurs had his finger crushed, and was otherwise knocked about. Mr. French sustained injuries to the head, and was badly bruised. Mrs. French had her shoulder dislocated, and was badly shaken. The little girl had a marvellous escape."
    An alternate version was given by the Goulburn Herald:- "The Tenterfield Casino mail coach met with a serious accident on the Casino side of the Sandilands Range. A white cow lying under a tree on the road frightened the two front horses, with the result that the coach was overturned down an embankment. The Rev. D. D. Carruthers of Kyogle was badly shaken. Mr. and Mrs. S. French were severely hurt. The former had an elbow dislocated, and Mrs. French had a lacerated wound on the head. Their infant child was under the coach but was found to be unhurt Mr. M'Ward brought the passengers to Casino; abd Dr. Stevens attended the sufferers. The driver showed presence of mind in securing both horses."
  • In 1950,her husband, Sydney French died in Chatswood, Sydney, New South Wales.
  • Lucy (Maude) Weary died in 1973 in St Leonards, New South Wales.

  • At the age of 22 years, William James Weathered married Alexandrina Frances (Rene) Werner, daughter of Hermann Robert Emil Werner and Jean Mann, in 1929 in Wickham, New South Wales.
  • William James Weathered began military service on 1 July 1942 in Newcastle. His service number was N449611 and he was living at Mayfield East at the time he enlisted. He gave his next of kin as his wife Alexandrina. He was discharged on 11 February 1944 with the rank of Lance Corporal in the 31 Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps Part Time Duty.
  • A week later he enlisted in the Australian Airforce on 18 February 1944 in Sydney. He was living at Mayfield at the time of his enlistment and gave his wife Alexandria as his next of kin. He was discharge on 8 January 1946 with the rank of Leading Aircraftman at the 2nd Stores Depot. His service number was 161146.
  • William James Weathered died in 1968 in Wallsend, New South Wales.
