The trophy, which was most tastefully arranged, consisted of sides and flitches of bacon, rolls of bacon, smoked and seeded hams, complete smoked pigs, cured pigs' heads, "kumera," "weisends," and a large collec tion of small goods, comprising: Stras tourg sausages, brawn, ham, sausages, white and black pudding, German saus ages, &c. The trophy attracted attention, and the whole of it was purchased by Messrs. Laidlaw and Peak, Ruthven-street, Toowoomba. Messrs. Chapman and Sons are finding their business at Murphy's Creek extend ing so rapidly that they will in the near future make extensive additions to their plant to meet the growing demand for their goods."

• Harold Chapman was born on 28 February 1904 in Murphy's Creek, Queensland. At the time of his birth Harold's father Sydney was a general storekeeper at Murphy's Creek.
  
• He was the son of Sydney Chapman and Elizabeth Margaret Cooke.
• At the age of 35 years, 7 months and 2 days, Harold Chapman married Ivy May Shaw Cossart, daughter of George Cossart and Minnie Maria Shaw, on 30 September 1939 in St Stephen's Presbyterian Church, Toowoomba. An account of their wedding appeared in "The Courier Mail" on Monday 2nd October 1931 -Two Saturday Weddings At Toowoomba - DAFFODILS and lilies decorated St. Stephen's Presbyterian Church, Toowoomba, on Saturday evening for the wedding of Miss Ivy May Shaw Cossart and Mr. Harold Chapman. The Rev. C. Mayes (Brisbane), officiated. The bride, who is the elder daughter of Mrs. George Cossart , Campbell Street. Toowoomba, and of the late Mr. George Cossart, wore snow white embroidered cloque. The softly ruched bodice was made with long mitten sleeves, and the skirt extended to form a long train. Tiny clusters of orange buds held in place the veil of Brussels lace and tulle and the bridal bouquet was of orchids. The bridesmaid, Miss Ethel Cossart. was frocked in sunshine tinsel brocade, with a full swing skirt sashed with silver. She added an amber pendant, silver gauntlets, and a hooded bolero of silver lame. Her bouquet was of golden daffodils. Little Jocelyn Cossart, niece of the bride, was flower girl. The bridegroom, who is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Chapman (Murphy's Creek), had Mr. W. A. Cossart for best man. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr. J. Cossart. Choral numbers were sung by St. Stephen's Presbyterian Choir, Miss Nance Williams sang, and Mr. H. Swan was organist. At the Cafe Alexandra, where the reception was held, Mrs. Cossart wore Burgundy cobweb lace, with a wide leafed hat of black bakii straw, and carried Burgundy and cream-tinted stocks. Mrs. Chapman favoured a frock of black mariette patterned in a gold hand-painted design, a black straw hat, and a bouquet of red gerberas. Leaving for the wedding tour, which will be spent in the Northern Rivers district, the bride wore silver grey romaine with a tailored coat of light wool in a cranberry shade, and a hat of cranberry straw touched with grey"
  Ivy lived at 43 Campbell Street at the time of her marriage and Harold, who was a clerk, lived at 128 Margaret Street, Toowoomba.

• Henry Chapman died on 29 January 1912 in Murphy's Creek, Queensland.
• On 29 January 1912 Was involved in an accident at the railway yards. The Queensland Times reported "ACCIDENT AT MURPHY'S CREEK. The Railway Department have receiverd a report of an accident which occurred to an elderly man named Chapman at Murphy's Creek, this morning (says yesterday's' " Telegraph".) Chapman was pushing a truck in the station yard, and the truck got away from him, and knocked him down and ran over him. Medical assistance was obtained from Helidon."

Thomas Henry Chapman

• Thomas Henry Chapman was born in 1878 in Queensland.
• He was the son of Henry Chapman and Martha Davis.
• At the age of 24 years, Thomas Henry Chapman married Emily Louisa Charlotte Goodrick, daughter of John Goodrick and Mary Jane Holmes, in 1902 in Queensland.
• In 1907 Thomas purchased a block of land at Hampton from Filshie, Broadfoot and Company. The company had purchased the land when the blocks were auctioned at Crow's Nest on 30 July 1903 after the towship was surveyed. After clearing the land he built a general store and home on the block. Tom's wife Emily and three chidren arrived in January 1908 when the family opened the store. Thomas was also the saddler for the area.
  Tom made many contributions to the community. He donated his services to the Geham school where he became the first instructor for leather work. He planted pine trees around his produce shed. These trees did so well that they were brought to the attention of the State Forestry Department. Thus Pechey State Forest came into being in 1927. Thomas also planted the Japanese Laurel that stands in Chapman Park today and tended other shrubs planted by the Main Roads Department after the area had been made into a park in which Thomas built toilets and a shelter shed. He also built the first tennis court in Hampton, located behind his house.
