S. Ellis, of Rockhampton, was married to Miss Elizabeth Ethel Blinco, eldest daughter of Mr. James Blinco, of Crow's Nest. The marriage was celebrated in the local Methodist Church, the Rev. B. Bottomfley officiated. The bride, who looked charming and becomingly dressed in cream voile, trimmed with satin ribbon and pleated with chiffon, was given away by her father. Miss Ellis and Miss Dinah Blinco the bride, and were both prettily dressed. Miss Ellis attired in a pretty cream voile dress, and a white felt hat trimmed with a moss green and blue feather, while Miss Blinco wore a cream voile dress and a white hat trimmed with pink. Mr. Jack Blinco attended the bridegroom as best man, and Mr A. Blinco as groomsman. After the ceremony the wedding party adjourned to the bride's parents house where the wedding breakfast was laid out. The presents were, both numerous and costly. Soon after the breakfast the bride and bridegroom drove to Toowoomba. The bride wore a very smart travelling dress of blue"

    as a carpenter at Rosalie, Cooyar and Jondaryan Stations from 1858 to 1870.
  • At the age of 24 years, 4 months and 24 days, Alfred William Blinco married Marion Dinah Langton, daughter of James Stephen Langton and Mary Ann Phillips, on 2 February 1861 in Queensland. At the time Alfred was a carpenter living in Toowoomba. Marion was a housekeeper at Cooyar Station. From the time of his marriage Alfred held various jobs, carpenter, part time shearer. In 1866 he was granted a timber license. They settled in Gowrie Road, Aubigny where they ran a farm.

  • On 7 August 1941 The following article appeared in the Rockhampton Morning Bulletin :-

    "DIVORCE ACTION
    In the Supreme Court yesterday, before Mr Justice Brennan, Emily Jane Richter, Biloela, petitioned for a divorce from Francis Richter on the ground of desertion. The action was undefended.
    Mr A. Bradford Instructed by Messrs Rees R. and Sydney Jones) appeared for the plaintiff.
    The plaintiff, in evidence, said she was married to the defendant on February 9, 1929, at Toowoomba. The marriage took place on a Saturday. After the marriage the defendant took her to an hotel, where he had engaged a double room. He then said, "Hooray, Im going back to my work." The defendant did not return to the hotel on the Saturday or Sunday. Witness saw him in the street on the following Monday and they conversed for about half an hour. He told her he had been working In the country during the week-end. Witness did not see him again until the Thursday when she spoke to him in the street. He said that he had had a droving trip offered to him at Dalby and that he was going. The next Monday witness spoke to the defendant again and he said he was "Just going." The defendant had given witness no money for her support.
    Continuing, witness said she did not see the defendant again for about 12 months. Early in 1930 she was working at Crow's Nest and the defendant came to see her. He told her that he had gone through a form of marriage with another woman. Witness knew that the defendant had been convicted for bigamy at Gympie and that he had been sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment. She saw him again at Crow's Nest after he had been in prison. She told him she was going to sue him for maintenance for their child. In 1933 an order against the defendant for payment of 10s. weekly for maintenance of the child was made. The defendant paid for about 12 months. After that the defend-ant paid no more money and witness could not find him. She had not seen the defendant since.
    His Honour granted judgement nisi, returnable after three months, the plaintiff to have custody of the child. He also ordered that prior to the order being made absolute the plaintiff must file a certified copy of her marriage certificate. Costs amounting to £84 were awarded against the defendant.
