She was unaware that the toddler was standing just behind her, and as she turned around she stumbled. The fat was tipped over him causing severe burns.
- On 19 April 1896,their son, Henry Friedrich Rohde died in Emu Creek, Crow's Nest, Queensland.
- In 1896,Julius Rohde's daughter, Mary (Martha) Rohde was baptised in Emu Creek. Her parents had moved to Crosshill before she was baptised, but wanted her baptised at Emu Creek. The table decorations were carried out in blue and gold. The wedding cake was made by their daughter Mrs. Holllngsworth (Sydney). Mr. Joseph Ditto presided, and proposed the health of the guests of honour. Mr. Julius Rohde suitably responded. Before her marriage Mrs. Rohde was Miss Matilda Dornbusch, of Aubigny. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Rohde for many years resided at Aubigny and Emu Creek, and during the past 26 years have resided in Oakey. The family consists of eight daughters. Mes dames Edward Hess (Maclagan), William Lockwood (Sydney), Leslie Skelton (Coolangatta), Robert Hollingworth (Sydney), Herbert Simons (South Africa), Herbert Delgnan (Surat), William Cleaver (Cape Cleveland Light House), and Miss Edith Rohde (Sydney). There are twenty-three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren."

The following article appeared in "The Brisbane Courier" on 18 November 1905 - "The International Harvester Company chimed from Martin Rohde £30 6s. 2d., for promissory notes stated to be due on machinery obtained. Mr. O'Rourke (instructed by Messrs. Eden and Groom) appeared for the company, and Mr. R. Dodd for the defendant. Judgement was given for the plaintiff for £21 10s., with costs. In the case G. D. Abond v. M. Rohde and Helene Rohde, for rent alleged to be due under agreement, Messrs. Eden and Groom appeared for the plaintiff, and Messrs. King and Rutledge for the defendant. The case was by agreement adjourned to the next sittings of the court. "
In 1907 his land was re-proclaimed for selection in 1907 because Martin was unable to pay the rent.
Meanwhile Helena had purchased a home in Cherry Street, Oakey from her father's estate of which she was also a beneficiary. Their daugher Ernestine was married from the residence on 21 February 1906. After the birth of her last child in December of that year, Helena, who had gained her midwifery certificate, turned the home into a Maternity Nursing Home. Martin, in the meantime spent time shearing sheep but not contributing to the family's finances in a major way. - Martin Rohde appeared on the Electoral Roll in 1916 living at Cherry Street, Oakey. He was a labourer.
- Martin Rohde died on 13 December 1924 in Queensland at age 64. He and Lena had lived separate lives for a number of years.
