The "boys" and "girls" are the children of the late John Maddern, Cornish-born farmer who died in 1933 and who took up land in the Crow's Nest District 74 years ago. The Rev. C. A. Caporn officiated. Mr. Bretz gave away his daughter, who, wore a richly-beaded mariette frock, finished with small sprays of orange blossoms. Her soft tuile veil was worn with a cap caught under a circlet of orange buds, and she carried a sheaf of arum lilies and asparagus plamosus. After the ceremony the wedding guests were entertained at the residence of the bridegroom's parents. Subsequently Mr. and Mrs. Wickham left for Brisbane and Coolangatta, where the honey- moon was spent. The bride's travelling frock of henna marocain was worn with a henna crinoline hat to match."
