    She began an association with Dougall McLeod (a ring barker and scrub cutter) around 1906. They lived together for almost 15 years and had two children Maurice born 1907 and Kirsty born 1911. Lydia eventually left Dougall . She went to live with her brother Alf and his family around 1925.
  • Lydia Jane Edser appeared on the Electoral Roll in 1930 living at Nutgrove. She carried out home duties - surname spelt MacLeod.
  • Between 1932 and 1933 Lydia left Nutgrove and went to work for with Peter (an ex-priest and Hilda Nolan on their farm at Coalbank where she helped with the milking and cooking.
  • She appeared on the Electoral Roll with Peter Michael Nolan and Hilda Gertrude Glover in 1943 in Emu Creek, Crow's Nest, Queensland. Peter was a farmer and Hilda carried out domestic duties. A Lydia McLeod also lived with them.
  • At the age of 56 years, Lydia Jane Edser married Edward (Ned) Lowien, son of August Lowien and Pauline Kajewski, in 1944 in Toowoomba. After their marriage Ned leased a farm from Mrs Peter Nolan at Coalbank. After the lease expired they moved to the Stanthorpe area where Ned patroled the rabbit fence. They later moved to Warwich in 1956 where Ned worked as the sextant at the cemetery.

  • In 1970,her husband, Edward (Ned) Lowien died in Queensland. He most likely died in Warwick.

    MRS. HARRIETT G. C. BURGESS.
    The death occurred on August 2rd at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Vincent, of Harriett Grace Constance Burgess, wife of Mr. Henry Alfred Walter Burgess
    of Smithton. Mrs.Burgess had been in Ill-health for some time and her death
    was not unexpected.
    She leaves four daughters, Daphne (Mrs. Vincent), Dorrie (Mrs. J. Billing), Gladys (Mrs. Short, Burnie) and Maud (Mrs. Anderson, Melbourne),and six
    sons, Messrs. Peter, Victor, Hedley, Percy, Eric and Athol.
    The funeral left the residence of Mrs. Vincent on Saturday afternoon and proceeded to the Stanley cemetery, where the Rev. C. E. Mitchell conducted
    the service. The chiefmourners, in addition to the sons and daughters were sons-in-law, Messrs. J. Billing and H . Vincent, and a brother, Mr. W. Edwards. The carriers were Messrs. A. B. King, W. King, Darcy King and Murray Burgess, and the pall-bearers Messrs. E . Geale, C. J . King, Arthur Bramich
    and L. W. Brooks. The funeral was largely attended and there were, manyfloral tributes, including wreaths from the Railway Department, Football Club, Smithton Club, Messrs. Grey Bros, and Ward Bros.
