• John Poxon was born on 12 April 1859 in Clayhanger, Walsall, Staffordshire.
• He was the son of John Poxon and Eliabeth Robinson.
• He was John was a coal miner but later became a green grocer.
• At the age of 21 years and 15 days, John Poxon married Agnes Elizabeth Kingston, daughter of James Kingston and Sarah Henson, on 27 April 1880 in Primative Church, Norton Canes, Staffordshire. According to family Agnes met John, a coal miner while at work at the tobacconist. Her bridesmaid was Patience Kingston and their best man Frederick Poxon.
  
• John and Agnes were to follow the rest of the Kingston family to Australia but John suffered a serious accident and decided not to go.
  
• At the time of the 3 April 1881 census, John Poxon was living in the household of Emma Henson and John Bircher in Clayhanger, Walsall Foreign, Staffordshire. John is shown as a 41 year old bricklayer and local methodist preacher born Tamworth, living with his wife Emma, 40 born Clifton Stafford. His niece Rosa R Bircher 12 born Walsall Wood, and two lodgers John Poxon born Clayhanger, Stafford a coal miner, and Agnes Poxon 23 born Darlaston Stafford. Agnes was the sister of Emma. After Emma and John Bircher moved to Heath Hayes on the Cannock Chase, Rosa went to live with Agnes and John Poxton.

Her obituary read" The death occurred last week of Mrs. Lawton, sen., an old and very highly respected resident of Crow's Nest, at the advanced age of 75 years. The deceased, whose son Charles recently returned from the war, and who has been unconscious for the last three weeks owing to an accident while riding, was seized with a paralytic stroke 10 days ago, and did not recover consciousness! Mrs. Lawton leaves a family of three sons and three daughters."
  
• Mary was buried in Drayton & Toowoomba Cemetery.
• The Methodist Church in Crow's Nest erected memorial plaques to early Crow's Nest Pioneers on the Church fence. Mary & William's names were amongst them.

• Virginia Prewer-Docking was born on 2 August 1856 in Chevington, Suffolk, England. She was know as Virginia Prewer, her father using the name of his step father though he was never adopted by Mr Prewer. The name Doking was used for legal matters.
  
• At the age of 18 years and 1 month, Virginia Prewer-Docking married Amos Harriss in October 1874 in All Saints Church, Chevington.
• Virginia Prewer-Docking and Amos Harriss immigrated on 27 March 1876. Amos, 24 and Virginia 19 travelled on the Western Monarch leaving London on 9 Dec 1875. During the 5 month voyage Virginia suffered badly from sea sickness and she never went on board any kind of boat again.
  Amos found work with a dairy farmer at Kangaroo Point in Brisbane. They later moved to Toowoomba and worked in a confectary factory. However, indoor work did not suit Amos so he took a job on a farm at Gowrie Little Plains. He then worked on the Railway at Mitchell on the banks of the Maronoa River. Later they transfered to Toowoomba to do the same work and when the railway work had finished Amos selected land at Ravensbourne just outside Toowoomba and built a house in the scrub.

There is a birth registration for a John Elias Price, March Quarter 1887 in Nantwich District (includes Wrenbury cum Frith), Cheshire. He was the son of Catherine Parry and John Price.
  
• He immigrated to Ellesmere, Wales, England, in 1912.
• He enlisted in the AIF on 16 February 1915 in Liverpool, New South Wales, He stated he was born in Wrenbury, Cheshire and was 27 years 11 months old. His next of kin was his mother Catherine Price who still lived in WALES. John had been apprenticed to W. Griffiths for five years as a joiner.
  He was 5' 4 1/2" tall, weighed 122 lbs with dark complexion, brown eyes and dark hair. He was a Methodist.
  He joined the 19th Battalion and served in the Middle East and then France before being transferred to the 17th Battalion. He was discharged on 27 July 1919.
  
• At the age of 32 years, John Elias (Jack) Price married Mary (May) Allard, daughter of Frank Allard and Mary (Minnie) Crawford, on 10 December 1919 in Methodist Church, Brooklana, New South Wales. John was a 32 year old orchardist of Kerryvale, born Wrexham, Wales, the bachelor son of John PRICE, a sawyer and Catherine PARRY. Mary was a 27 year old spinster born Teven Creek, daughter of Frank ALLARD and Mary CRAWFORD. The service was performed by Samuel Wedge and witnessed by W Lawrence [ NOTE:- A Walter Lawrence married Annie (Dolly) Allard in 1928].
  
• John was a joiner/cabinetmaker and was involved in the construction of Glenrose Homestead at Brooklana and of a number of public buildings in the area including the Brooklana Methodist Church, Brooklana School and the Returned Services Memorial Hall and what is now the Coffs Harbour Jetty Memorial Theatre.
  
• John was a groomsman at the wedding of Walter Charles Lawrence and Annie Dorothea (Dolly) Allard, daughter of Frank Allard and Mary (Minnie) Crawford, on 16 May 1928 in Coffs Harbour Methodist Church, New South Wales; The reception was held at the residence of John and Eve Cottell. The couple intended to live in Brooklana.
