Mrs. Lacey, who was a prominent member of the Methodist Church, had been busy all day cooking for a social gathering in aid of the church, and towards evening she went to see Mrs, Colthup, a neighbour. While she was there Mrs. Colthup left the room to get an article which she intended to show Mrs. Lacey, and on returning found that she had fallen onto the floor. Dr. Overend was summoned, and on examination found life to be extinct, death being due to heart failure. The deceased, who was widely known and much respected, had lived for 20 years in this district. Her husband survives her, and there is a grown up family."
