    The monthly meeting of thee Crow Nest Agricultural and Horticultural Society was held on Saturday last, the main business being the con sideration of tenders for the erection of the pavilion in the show ground. Twelve tenders were received ranging from £112 7s. s 5d to £170. The lowest tender, that of W Goebel of Bergan was unanimously accepted. Towards this about £80 is in hand, the balance being guaranteed by the Com mittee. The Government gave a grant of twenty acres for a show ground and the energetic com millee of management have pushed matters forward so that they now have six acres cleared and fenced at a cost of £70. No show ball was held last year owing to the thought but this year one will be held on the Thursday previous to the Toowoomba August show. Every effort is being put forward to make it a grand success and the promoters hope to offer inducements for a special train from Toowoomba and Brisbane."

It was agreed to share the cost of putting down the bore. The matter of the proposed new road from Whichello to Crows Nest was held over for further considera tion In connection with the proposed road from Coalbank to Wahoon, it was pointed out that heavy compensation for the resumption, of lands might be required. It was decided to write to the several interested property owners in order to estimate the compensation, terms, etc, under which the land might be resumed, and also to apply to the Government for assistance in the
    matter". A few days after it was reported that the Goebel Brothers had struck a good supply of water at Mr Nitz property, Bergen.
  • In August 1912 The Goebel brothers (?) sank a bore to test for water to supply Crow's Nest Township.
